Would it be possible to have pipper or a cross on CCIP? Also, it would be great to have the static cross on gun HUD mode. I know F-18 is using F-16 avionics and some of things are hard coded. Not sure if this is one of them.

Regardless TGP or FCR, it just is used as a cuing mechanism. The weapon just flies to the last location designated by the sensor. However if the targets moved in the meantime, your weapon would miss anyhow. Not as effective against moving targets as Mavericks.

What would be a good alternative to Saitek Rudder pedals
Any recommendations? Anything that wouldn’t cause USB 3.0 crash problem like Saitek products?

An interesting observation on CATI and CATIII transitions
My loadout is standard AA: 6xAAM’s and 2xwing tanks and taking off at CATIII. When my wingtanks are down to a certain level, I get the warning that I can switch to CATI. Now, if I go to a tanker and fill those tanks back up, the warning would not go away. None of the missiles get fired. It looks as if the CATIII to CATI transition is one way street. Once you get CATI, regardless of your later weight changes, you will never get back to CATIII.

Seen this too. mostly far away when locked bandit with amraam. As if bandit warps from one location to another in HUD. Always suspected it has something to do with deaggregating unit and bubble. But thats just a maybe. Also only happens once (1 warp) if it does if i remember correctly.Cheers Obi1
I totally agree with you. I also think it may be due to deaggregatting and bubble. Another interesting observation is when you press 8 to go 3rd person view on other friendlies, you will see friendlies flipping crazily in the air before they stabilize on normal flying. The only concern is: would this affect the accuracy for amraam. Would this cause missiles to miss.

RegardsNo, I don’t think we are talking about the same thing here. The lag of TD box you are referring to is like this: when a target is pulling 90’ across in front of you, if you are pulling to track it, you will see the TD box lagging behind the real target. My case is like: you and your target are heading into each other at long range. No lateral movement (no pitch or rolling motions). Both of you are basically flying straight. You lock it up on FCR, but the TD box keeps jerking around. Not only on HUD, it jerks around in JHMCS view as well. The lags are random. It could be up and down or left and right.

Not sure if this is just me or a bug. I lock up a target on FCR (soft lock), then I see my TD box on the HUD jump around. Sometimes pretty drastic changes. One time I saw the initial TD box at angel 20k but next moment it’s at 15k. The problem is especially acute for longer range locks.

hmm. I have seen a lot of activities. In my campaign, I saw a lot of AI flights taking off or landing in other bases.

F-18E TGP and laser guided weapons
I just noticed the targeting pod is always “out” for all superhornets, but it is available for F-18c. If superhornets can’t equip pods, how can you use laser guided bombs on them?

Do A-10's piloted by AI do A-A refueling at?
I tried several missions, AI a-10’s don’t seem to refuel. Sometimes I gave them 2 refueling waypoints and 15min for each. They just ignored them. Is it cuz they got such a big fuel loads that the computer thinks refueling is unnecessary?

On youtube, I haven’t been able to find a lot of videos on using dogfight mode stealthily (i.e. get an AIM9 lock without using radar).

I have experienced this like the RWR has a create event but misses a delete event. I end up power cycling the RWR to flush the buffer.
So sounds like the game trying to simulate a real life glitch?

Wait. how do adjust brightness again? I just know for every HUD’s color, there is a lower brightness version. Is that what you talking about? Also, can you adjust NVG’s brightness?

I was doing CAP and met 4Xsu30’s. After I cleaned out the su-30, the 29 symbol still lingered on RWR. It was on bearing 270 when I first engaged su30’s, but after I RTB, it still sits on 270. Also, 270 means same altitude with my base’s coordinates. That would be way behind the front line. Given how many cap fighters and Patriot batteries along the way, there is no way it could’ve survived that far south.
It occurs sporadically. I only seen once in hundred hours of playing. I’ll try to capture some photos next time it occurs.

Not sure if it is a known bug. And signal is always at the same bearing and distance regardless how your own aircraft moves.

Not with AI. To do that, you need to have human wingmen that are slightly more intelligent than their AI counterpart (hopefully ).
Nice shot. You prolly used night time HUD, didn’t you? My HUD was a lot worse. I am gonna try that tonight to see if it helps.

It’s not that I don’t like to rely on tech and keep bad guys at arm’s length. I am in a pretty tough situation. I am on a BARCAP mission to protect 4 flights of a-10’s on a mission to stop a Chinese 5-battalion counter attack to the north of Pyong-Yan. I thought it would be easy cuz most nearby airbases have been neutralized. But to my surprise, the Red put out 5 flights to counter me. The first 2 su-27’s are easy. Then 2 Mig-29’s. By then my stupid wingman is dead. Next comes a flight of 4-ship Su-30. By the time I dealt with them, I am windchester. But slow A-10’s are just arriving to prosecute ground targets. Then a flight of 4-ship Mig-23’s show up from nowhere. I can go guns on 2-3 mig-23’s no problem in daylight. But night time really messes me up. That’s why I am here to see if anyone has gun fight at night experience. Also, can I order wingman to stay at certain waypoint to chill rather than following me around? If I can do that then I can put his 4xaim-120’s to good use without sacrificing him.
