RE: Israel Theater of Operations for BMS 4.36
Tried editing latest ITO with latest Mission Commander.
Almost unusable: multiple Mission Commander crushes, affiliation/ country shown is incorrect and possible other data mismatch between BMS files and MC
The attempted edit was done with a TE.A side note…trying to assign/ place Hizbollah units through TE editor resulted in a BMS hung and crash, several times.

RE: BMS status rant
I personally don’t see it like that
For me that message is so disconnected from the facts and reality that there is nothing to argue actually
Nearly every sentence is actually wrong , in particular the one about our dev capability , it’s fun the guy believes he has some insight but it’s just an uninformed opinion
We like very much the comments and criticisms because it allows us to improve
A post like that has no meaning and is of zero interest for us so no need to loose our calm
I prefer to spend time on discord with the people actually flying and that report constructive and helpful comments
Let’s go back to work
Your previous reply I disregarded.
As for this one…I shall not treat you with the same attitude you think you are entitled to treat others while preaching others who have different manners or thoughts.
Sadly, your answer just strengthens my take on said BMS issues.
Have a wonderful weekend.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RE: BMS status rant
@Bad:
No need to be sorry but sorry to say : such report doesn’t help us at all.
Please provide us some explanations (and if possible some repro cases) of all your issues or some crashlog in case of CTD with some reliable bug reports and we’ll do our best to fix all them
Cheers,
BBI know you shall do your best.
I know my report doesn’t help.
Current state of BMS is lacking in too many ways that something drastic has to change regarding development, development process, development cooperation and development testing.
The path taken leads nowhere good.
More than that…I think the community and especially the devs share my concerns.
Maybe there is no viable solution ATM and you are just trying to salvage what you can.
BMS deserves more than being salvaged and it’s either a peaceful death or a glorious future.
4.36 won’t be the solution.
It will only add issues.
The current problem is the foundations are crumbling.
Fix them before anything else for I would sure hate to watch a ghost of such a glorious past rotting in-front of my eyes.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BMS status rant
I have never posted something like that here, or elsewhere for that matter.
I really appreciate all the effort by the devs, voluntary effort.
But…BMS is becoming more and more undependable, unstable, undocumented and a source of too much frustration instead of just fun.
Too many important devs are leaving with their responsibilities half replaced/ taken care of, too many documents are not updated on a regular basis, too many crucial bugs emerge instead of being taken care off during testing, too many flights just cut short because of software issues.
Just finished a 25 minutes of my squad’s flight night with two aircrafts hanging above the control tower wheels down and a CTD when taking a screen shot with 4.35.2
Just one too many bugs.
The state of BMS is just driving one too many away.
I know that if I wouldn’t have belonged to a BMS wing I would just say the hell with it and go have fun elsewhere.
Sorry for being too harsh.
Sorry for speaking my mind so bluntly.
It is becoming less and less fun flying it. -
RE: Trackir: precision mode or standard?
According to the manual precision mode is restricted in its 3D movement.
For most sim operations it is advisable to use standard mode.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RE: Israel Theater Of Operations for BMS 4.35
Thank you for a working 4.35 ITO !!!
1. Is there a change log doc?
2. Reading the documents…couldn’t find reference for radio frequencies of different agencies (ground, tower…)
3. Was the AWACS issue of 4.34 fixes? -
RE: Israeli Theater 4.34.3 update/full installer
I’m using BMS 4.34 Update 4 and I’m trying to make a TE from scratch. Order of Battle should be empty but as soon as I add something it fills up with squadrons I guess from some of the campaigns. Is it wanted feature or mistake?
ITO’s Israeli squads are placed as close as possible to their real locations.

RE: HSI & cursor knobs clock rotate keyboard issue
Issue solved.
Funky Windows…no surprise.
Reinstalled keyboard drivers fixed it. -
RE: HSI & cursor knobs clock rotate keyboard issue
The mouse works.
The keyboard commands clockwise do not. -
HSI & cursor knobs clock rotate keyboard issue
Due to a Windows issue had to completely reinstall (correctly) BMS 4.34.
For some reason, while the key commands work in the settings tab and show the correct command, the clockwise rotation of both the HSI and cursor doesn’t work.

RE: Electronic Flight Bag
Would it be possible to download data from WDP into EFB?
Flight preparations and flight itself calls for a toolbox consisting of sever tools.
WDP is a dedicated briefing tool for a certain flight at a certain date.
EFB is an electronic library of all data relating to the BMS F-16 and a specific BMS theater.
It has a rough briefing tool and a notes taking page but that’s it.
So…prepare for the flight with one tool and use the other tool for more data as needed. For example: share the WDP relevant output with your flight members to prepare for call sign, schedule, weather, load out, freqs.
All along expect your flight members to have relevant plates, AFB and navaid freqs, and any needed data at their grasp within seconds with the EFB.Don’t forget…the EFB is there to replace the HUGE heavy bag full of books and maps pilots used to carry to each flight.
The briefing is only a few sheets of paper they take with them just before the flight and its data is relevant for that specific flight, as planned, with basic data. -
RE: YAME64 suite
MFDE doesn’t always work (Polar, FO Balkan to name a couple).
As for Helios for BMS…it’s a wonderful software that is actively developed but with BMS its issue is differences between individual key files on which it heavily relies.
So each person needs to adapt it to his own key file.I’m currently using a combination of MFDE, RTT and Helios and while it works fine by me not all users can get good extractions with low FPS without a huge hassle.
YAME64 used to be a solution but way to many are having issues, as seen with repeated posts regarding the work around (which is simple for many but not all).
If there could be a simple extractions tool, actively developed, for all instruments that is included within BMS…I think many would benefit.
The power users shall be able to enhance with available other tools.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RE: Dcs World Viper and Falcon BMS
@vfp:
So Ed is Russian company or American? I thought that was Russian at the very firsts steps with lock on and su 27 flanker and then Americans involved and then the strategy changed .a Russian company has for ceo or leader an American.?i think the core team of Russians left the company and the company took another turn. I would like to know if I am wrong. Btw I don’t have a single module from them
It doesn’t matter where they are from.
The point is they are not an American company and thus don’t have to legally abide by the same legal laws regarding truthful advertisement which are very strict and are not shared internationally or kept at the same standards.I am also not implying ED is lying or doing wrongful advertisement.
I do state that there’s a difference between what they do and what they advertise and I would rather, personally, learn about a company from its actions than from its words. As for Wags…as far as I know he’s an American working as a producer in ED.
Other than producing I do not know his management position within ED hierarchy. From reading about his travels, what he published, it seems the staff is located in Russia.
Something interesting ED published when working on the Mi-8: they videoed how the Russian Air-force gave them full access to a Mi-8 with engines working, for their benefit, in order to record its sounds.By the way…everybody here fly the new Falcon Online Balkans campaign?
It looks like the days of 40 online kicking ass and one another are pretty close.
I do miss seeing their TS channels full of blue dots… -
RE: Dcs World Viper and Falcon BMS
I disagree regarding which version is aimed at which user.
The process I’ve seen happening throughout the last years is ED very gently “shifting” the community from final products to beta products and from beta to alpha while each time increasing the price for the lesser product and all along, slowly slowly, the beta DCS version gets updates on regular basis while the frequency of the stable DCS is at a constant decline. In short, contrary to what ED publishes as to who should use beta and who should use stable, stable is by now so far behind the beta that it is of no real interest to the regular user.
(The stable used to get updated after every successful beta…used to). So…by now you pay $60-$80 US for a module, which is almost twice as much as it used to be, but now you get a half baked product at a half baked environment and you can not complain because you were told beforehand it is only for testing and it is unfinished.
I do not think that ED is outright lying (though some might be so fed up with them and have a different opinion) but use a PR strategy that brings one to think one will get something else that actually differs from what they actually give.
And you know what…why should I blame them?
The customers rush to buy their products at whatever state and after bitching about it over some threads they go on and buy the next alpha product without hesitation.Maybe an American company would be held liable in a court of law.
A Russian company that dances over the red line without actually crossing it is actually being perceived as keeping adequate standards. And here’s another issue…we are a very small community and there are only two modern combat airplane sims at our disposal.
There is not a lot of money in this business, the community is unappreciative most times, development needs a lot of preparation and knowledge in multiple disciplines and in the current trend that a software is old the minute it’s out and most use and drop for the next new whatever…
Bottom line it is a niche market with a very small revenue and a lot of work for very challenging customers.
Very similar to civil aviation. But…we are so much off topic from where the OP started,
In short…I was told by someone who knows someone who’s besties with one of the dev’s best mate that we can expect 4.6 in the first week of May.
I might be mistaken though.
This thread has been confusing me so much I think I just drank too much, again. -
RE: Mavericks in U4
I remember reading somewhere that agm65’s are normally boresighted together on the ground, maybe I read it wrong ….6 mavs on the ground would be boresighted together by some sort of machine, then loaded to the aircraft …so all agm65 were looking the same place, the only thing to do was to get those mavs looking at where the tgp was…either in the air or on the ground i think it mentioned fallon airbase , and that they had something on the base that would let them do the procedure on the ground, in this article it also mentioned a similar area for guns and boresite, maybe somebody can elabarate , it was a fair while ago and not necessarily f16 maybe f15e or 18
Boresight is aimed at correcting minute alignment discrepancies caused by mounting the missile on a rack which mounts on the wing.
In RL it is done on the ground but mounted.
Same as you do in air you do on the ground.
BMS currently only lets you boresight while airborne. As for Loading 6 or more Mavericks…I think usual load is 2 total tops.
Even the Hog which is no more than a massive airborne ammunition crane that can carry much more and loiter even longer does not carry more. -
RE: Electronic Flight Bag
When one has a splendid template that was so well thought of, planned, researched and designed…as the work done creating EFB Korea by EuKeule and Anvil one has a short path to just adapt it to another theater.
What’s more the kind of cooperation that was done with the both of them which revolved not about ego but about respect to one another in order to continue advancing the project these two started for the community.Well Done !!!
