Just wondering if there is any update to this, or if there is a workaround?
Cheers [emoji106]

SITREP - we have moved the server to rampstart on the very western side of the map in the Balkans. Seems to be behaving itself. It’s only dropped back to 2D once.
From some of our recent flights

Thanks for the discussion. I’ll try a different homeplate for the server. We’re currently flying the Balkans and the server was based at Sigonella with the 5th U2 Squadron.
I’ll try a base further west and let you know how I get on.
Thanks
Just sitting on the ramp for a training flight. Unfortunately, I never see it exit back to 2D as I’m flying. I presume it just ends and returns to 2D.
Do I need to set a long end time in the flight plan or something?

Awesome post. Thank you.
I’m having a problem with leaving the server in 3D. If I run the server with no clients, the server player will stay in 3D, however if I run with a few players connected, it drops back to 2D after some time has passed.
I usually find this out as AWACS stops responding for some reason.
Any ideas? Is the server mission timing out?
SOLVED!!!
It’s caused by a corrupt Data Cartridge. Switching to a different logbook solves the problem.
Okay, so I had a play with the new WDP the other day and I must have stuffed up my profile. Replacing the <profile>.ini fixed the problem.
I hope this helps someone in the future.
Thank you for all your help. :)</profile>
Okay, so I’ve reinstalled 4.34 and then copied across my user and campaign folders. Same result.
I’m now going to reinstall (again) and run through adding bit slowly to see if I can identify the issue.
Note: This is no longer an F18 issue. It also happens with the F16 on Taxi
Standby. It looks like I’ve got a config fault. The F16 is now doing the same…
I’ll reinstall and see if i can figure out what is wrong for anyone else experiencing this.

Ramp start works fine…. very strange

Setup TE at Kunsan. Taxi start showed no DED and nothing I did would make it work. I tried a full shutdown and restart.
Runway start was the same. No DED
Hmmm……

Good idea. I’ll try a land based taxi start.

Right…. this is weird. I cannot get the DED to work from Taxi. It’s just dead.
Ramp starting works fine.
Test setup -
KTO Iron Fortress, 195th F/A-18c flying off the CVN Vinson. Pick the first or second mission. Select Taxi as start option. No DED…
Okay….standby. I just ran a ramp start and it came up halfway through. It’s a switch somewhere…
No sorry. That one didn’t work either. I’m also Taxi starting if that helps.
Please keep the ideas coming
Nope, that didn’t fix it. I’m kinda glad too, as I would’ve died a little bit on the inside……:D
Yup. It displays fine in the HUD, although I can only see part of it.
No unusual font sizes or weird preferences in Windows.
*** UPDATE NOTE: This is also occurring with the F16 ***
Hi Everyone,
I’m looking to fly a package flight with F-18s, and in testing found the DED isn’t displaying. I’ve done a forum search, but I couldn’t find anyone mentioning this. Any ideas?
Just my 2 cents…
I’ve used both TIR and EDtracker. Both are awesome to use. I settled on EDtracker for a couple of reasons.
The first was cost. They are cheap as chips to build and don’t require a camera setup. Secondly, I found that with the monitor being static, I liked the fact that I could easily return to a center HUD view naturally. I felt with the TIR I was always floating a bit off center or sitting too far away.
With BMS, I have a X56 HOTAS. I’ve setup the scroll pinky wheel on the side of the throttle to change the FOV. This allows quick zooming in on features and ground targets. Scrolling back returns to a set FOV in the cockpit, so I don’t really want the 6-dof complicating that.
The only time I’ve thought that I wanted 6-dof, was looking down at the side panels. Using the Opentrack software, I just introduced a small zoom curve when looking down. It works surprising well and feels natural, like bending your neck forward.
TIR is awesome and the rest of my team uses them, but I have to admit, if I was gifted one now, I don’t think I’d swap out my Edtracker…
Hey, look at it this way (I did…), order a cheap EDTracker kit, grab a soldering iron and get flying. You can do this whilst saving up for a TIR…[emoji846]
