I think the discussion drifted away from acquisition to the general changes of the missile performance.
I remember the ranges that we were used to in 4.35. The tactics in BVR were a complete different story compared to now.
Today we (especially my squadron) complain about guidance behavior of the AIM-120C and we learned that this part seems to be mostly untouched since the old Microprose days.
So instead of wining and complaining because we can not apply the tactics of 4.35 any more we should wine and complain about the old guidance code, that’s still in place!

RE: Block 50/52 pits
@FoxBMS said in Block 50/52 pits:
I think this is not as it should be. When you compare the real photos of F-16 cokpits, also compare with other games how it should look like, you will find that using these cockpits making the feel from the game a bit unrealistic. This is probably not so easy to fix, just wanted to mention.
The hud frame angle is aligned to the pilots head.
- If your head is in the natural position then you don’t see the inner or outer side of the HUD frame.
- If you move your head foreward then you see the inner side of the frame.
- If you move your head behind the natural head position then you see the outer side of the frame. You could argue that it should not be possible to push the head into the headrest of the seat in the 3D pit.
However I don’t see an issue here.
Keep in mind that many pictures are taken with the camere in front of the head. There are maybe not so much photos where the camera had the correct position.
Also… comparing to the other flight-sim/game… They mimic the perspective of a camera which is placed in front of the pilots head. That is not really something that I would call realistic. But these are just my 2 Cents.

RE: SDBs in Tandem: Using the Meter Sticks
@ericfa2a said in SDBs in Tandem: Using the Meter Sticks:
@Crassus I have just made a simple TE with JSOW-154A.
- First, the number for the meterstick is in meters and it’s the total length of the horizontal part of the cross. Here there is a difference with all the docs i have read for BMS
‘TO BMS 1F-16CM-34-1-1.pdf’
Chapter 2.10.3.5 NORTH POINTER / METERSTICK (page 148)By selecting N/M via OSB 19 in the Control page the longitude, latitude and elevation of the current System Point Of Interest (SPI) position will be displayed in the upper left corner of the MFD display along with an arrow pointing north in the upper right corner and a number to the right of the meter stick (cross-hair) which is the length in meters of each line of the cross-hair.
I think all should be clear according to the available docs for BMS provided by the BMS team.

RE: Pico 4 experience and settings
@ipetter
I’m in the office right now and can not check which app exactly I installed but I think it was this one
https://m.apkpure.com/de/hotspot-and-tethering-shortcut/com.pw.hotspotshortcutThe workflow is simple:
- Connect the Pico 4 to your wifi.
- Activate USB tethering using the app (Approve the connection if Windows asks if you want to use the new connection).
- Connect VD (works only on wifi).
- Disable wifi (Pico will shift all network traffic to tethering automatically)
- Run the game.
In case you lost internet connection on your PC after the network connection switched to tethering you need to change the network priority for your network adapter to a value which is lower than the tethering adapter. Here’s a guide for it:

RE: How to bind ATC menu "T" to HOTAS?
@cebraasesina
You can use additional software for such things like Voice Attack or VoiceMacro. Those tools can not only handle voice commands but also button events.

RE: F-16 stick angled/offset?
@Korbi said in F-16 stick angled/offset?:
Be aware that the stick has a forward angle mounted on the stickbase indeed - BUT the base itself has a angle backwards, so the stick is pretty upright more or less.
Also the seat in the real cockpit is tilted backwards, the stickbase is tilted backwards (as you pointed out) and the stick is tilted forward. The reference for the stick angle should not be the ground but the seat.

RE: AIM 120
@sungad
The issue with the cursor stuck at the bugged target is there since 4.35.
https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/21207/radar-cursor-in-crm-sam-mode
And since then I never came across a solution.
The advices are known (cursor speed = 100% and make sure that the cursor axis can provide full deflection) but they don’t help. For me it takes a while to get the cursor off from the bugged target and select the 2nd target in SAM mode. If I can’t make it in time then I only engage a single target. TWS is no option any more.

RE: AIM 120
We’re slowly getting familiar with the new missile behavior. However sometimes we see things in the ACMI that doesn’t seem to be right to our eyes.
Here are two things that happened just recently. Maybe you can have a look give us some feedback.-
AIM-120C5 going after wrong targets:
We had a range presentation of 2x2 Mig-29. Jaguar51 picked up both contacts of the trail group in SAM mode (even if that was not the smartest decision :D). But the missiles actually went after the target that was locked by Jaguar53 at this point.

AIM-120C5 successfully avoids target:
Well… I don’t really know what to say about this. Maybe you have some words?

Full tape:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sjt15i8ksl0ids5/2022-05-16_FE-ITO.zip.acmi?dl=0Disclaimer:
This was recorded in ITO and we know that you probably don’t care for any issues here. But maybe it’s worth to have a look at it.
Asking the ITO dev’s if something is wrong with their AIM-120C5 doesn’t seem to make sense as they would probably refer back to you. -

Ok, in short you don’t agree with me at all, i got it. But thanks for the answers anyway.
If i may add last compare, because here is visible the difference…so if i got you right, the cockpit model in this model on second picture and also from 3rd picture F4AF (because there is the same too) is modeled unrealistic ? Is it correct?
https://postimg.cc/Js45Gy9k
https://postimg.cc/fJvvz7gs
https://postimg.cc/rKTJ2ZjgI tried to chose plus minus same position on the pics. On the first picture (BMS), from holy logic if i look straight forward from this position, i should not see the outer sides of these holders. This is clear proof it’s turned to sides, i just thought it should be in straight positions.
Don’t try to “choose the same position”. Enter the 3D cockpit and look straight forward. It should be perfectly fine. Pushing your head virtually back too far by using the mouse will cause that strange look.

It happens only while on ground and disappears when airborne.
I saw this on a F-16 CM50 and F-16 CM40.
Headset: PICO 4 + Virturtal DesktopPictures
Example files
NoneCrash logs
NoneReproducibility Procedure
- Enter a flight (TE or Campaign) on ground.
- Move your head to the side (if you can ). You might have to taxi a bit. The intensity changes.
- Take off and check again >> All normal.
Expected Behavior
Don’t see the HUD outside of the HUD. -

i really need to improve their skills in Missile avoidance.
I think the complain was that it is too hard to successfully kill any target in BVR. If you improve the AI skills in missile avoidance, than we will probably continue with wining and complaining even more. Think about that!

@Razor161 said in any fuel calculator program ?:
How does it work? I’m an engineer but I simply do not get how should work and it provides totally uncomprehensive data.
To me is far simpler simply open the F-16CJ supplement and check the cruise charts.
Well the OP did not ask what is easier for you. The OP asked for “any fuel calculator program” and this is a tool for calculating fuel.
I don’t use it for the same reason as you pointed out but that’s just the way it is.
My fuel calculation is based on what is written down in the Dash-1. -

@sungad said in 4.37 killed the AMRAAM:
I don’t have a problem with AMRAAMs not hitting anything at all, but with picking the wrong target.
I.e. when I launch two AMRAAMs in TTS at two MiG-21 (the two flying away from you in Instant Action wave 3, they’re not that close to each other and don’t maneuver at all until pitbull) from Rtr (17 NM or so), there’s something like a 50% chance that the AMRAAMs actually hit both targets, in the other 50%, both missiles pick the same MiG.
I would need to test that a little more, it’s probably more than 50%, but often enough, it doesn’t work as intended. I might also try if STT makes it better.
That’s because you still don’t accept that the target cue can be Miles away from the real target , and it also heavily dépendant of the distance between the target and the shooters radar. STT will be more accurate but still
Is that radar inaccurancy visible in the HUD? I always see TD boxes that are perfectly on target.
I mean, I probably know the answer: “4.38 will have inaccurate TD boxes and radar screens.”
In BVR you see the TD box perfectly on a target, that you can not see (Beyond Visual Range). That’s exactly my kind of humor!
