it is for us who extract the instrument
MFDE satrted with this and YAME does as well. Very useful but not quite for Vrefs IMHO, I personally use it for 360/420/480 kts which gives me a reference for formation flying

RE: F16V (Block 70)
Perhaps a bit overstated
Idealy I would prefer to have a CPD integrated in BMS, nothing classified there.
A moving map with integrated flight plan, a fuel management page and what not, it is so incredible awesome.Indeed, the CPD is in use in some older ANG block30. So itās VERY overstated.
that said, the block70 is not only about CPD. But thatās what ppl think about basically as itās probably the most visible cockpit difference. There is probably much more internally.
But after all, our block 50/52 doesnāt have link 16 either. So the āclassifiedā argument is IMHO just a huge wall to hide behindI think that if we want to promote the CPD, we should stop thinking itās a unique feature of a block 60 or 70 - We need to concentrate on these block 30 ANG F-16 and find someone able to dedicate a new pit to it. IMHO thatās the biggest challenge as as far as I know a dedicated F-16 cockpit artist is missing, and has been missed for quite a long time in this community. IMHO
The features of the CPD should they be implemented one day are quite easy to find. -
RE: 4.35 BMS Interactive maps - with emphasis on "interactive":
http://www.ravico.com/ST/BMS_KOREA_interactive/index434_old.html
Iām sure you know that but the 4.34 interactive map didnāt have the weather goodies, it was just for the charts. That old link above is still working

RE: Can't Figure Out Weather Settings (BMS 4.35)
Instant action has no Weather button
BUT
Dogfight has. after selecting furball, team furball or matchplay, you will find a weather icon on the top left of the small KTO chart.
You can define weather for dogfight through that button in the same way weather is defined for TE and campaigns.
BMS manual page 10-116Quite unintuitive is the fact that the dogfight weather setting will influence the instant action weather setting as well.
So to set the weather in instant action, you need to set the weather first in the dogfight section.
I think this was not the way it was meant to as weather from one of these module was removed for reason I donāt remember.
Yet your issue is probably that your dogfight is set to inclement in dogfight and you canāt set your weather in instant action to anything else than that => go dogfight section and change the weather then test instant action and see which weather you have3. What do the various options under Map Model in the Campaign Weather settings do exactly:
a) Auto Save, Fair, Inclement, Start Maps Auto Update, Save-Dayā¦, TE_BMSā¦ ??
b) Profile-S, Profile-L, Save With ??BMS manual chapter 5 Weather

RE: Link 16 things you want in the next update
fair enough
Maybe a compromise lies between the two picture above mate. As always
Any way. Point is done and the āpictureā delivers the message anyway, after that weāre all entitled to our opinions -
RE: Tailwind landing
I know Kunsan prefers to operate 36, to the point of accepting tailwinds to a certain degree. I forget whether its a 10 knot or 15 knot tailwind component, before they switch to 18?
Would be nice if BMS ATC would operates a bit more tolerances on that aspect. Iāve seen weird situation with active runway changing because of a full cross situation and the wind slightly shifting from one side to the other. It created havoc on airport operations but happens in real ops as well Anyway What we have is already excellent. There is always room for more improvement
Itās easily avoided in BMS, but some instances using real weather created the above ā¦

RE: Link 16 things you want in the next update
picture worth than a thousand words,
Hereās what Iām trying to expressI agree the photographic aperture makes the lights brighter - but compare the PAPIS ā¦
Yet there is a huge difference between real and BMS as far as the light brightness are concerned. A bright light makes a better job at runway approach lightning than a dull light.
the also try to see the blue taxi light on the BMS picture and look at the green light at the real picture.BMS airport are not always lighted, so when they are lighted, thatās for traffic to land. Then maybe the light should be a bit of more help. IMHO
I think shitty refers to the weather (bad weather), not the software.
lol, note to self: do not forget some have an extremely short fuze.
of course itās weather -
RE: Link 16 things you want in the next update
thatās because youāre used to land on desert strips with special ops guys lighting the runway with matches
My real IFR experience is different but letās go back to BMS:in dry air, I would agree that the current runway lights are enough for the job we ask them. But in hi humidity air, thereās no light reflection or dissipation or aura as you often can see in real life.
And thatās what I was trying to say. When youāre really looking at getting the runway lights at minima on a shitty weather approach in BMS, I think the lights could be made better to serve their purpose to tell the pilot where the runway is
And thatās also what I meant to tell when you fly in the clouds with your lights flashing. There is in BMS very few reflection on the clouds water drupplets blinding you back, that would be made much more immersive IMHO if possible
But itās a tiny cherry on the cake I agree. -
RE: Link 16 things you want in the next update
I disagree about runways, IMHO they should be much brighter, and the interaction with lights and weather should be better as well in general.
The bad weather approach and the need for runway lights shining on and off and being dissipated by low clouds of fogs is really missing.Another missing aspect for light is their importance in the role they play in spatial disorientation when flying through weather, especially flashing lights.
On a general observation, the world is way too dark in BMS (donāt tell me itās because of the visor) and the lights are not enough bright.
I agree it should be made better if possible -
RE: Link 16 things you want in the next update
Thatās campaign Icer, correct? (which one btw?)
In TE, thereās nothing wrong with the Spice in BMS 4.35 KTO and the rokaf birds.
the block52 can carry the Spice 2000 and 2000P
the block 32 canāt
Thatās just the same as 4.34Maybe you meant the campaign

RE: Axis for Comm1 and Comm2 not switching comms on
thereās a button at the early course of the axis. That button must be used as COM 1 ON/OFF & COM2 ON/OFF
Turning the axis changes the volume but without the button donāt power the radio -
RE: Inconsistency FMAP & weather briefing
I wonder if the map is not inversed
Thatās a valid lead IMHO. but then it wouldnāt be only at target, departure and arrival briefing would suffer the same issue
For reference: The UI map have to be flipped when created. (BIG_MAP_ID.TGA) so it would be consistent somehow with the above remark
I have no idea but itās consistent with my experience creating the UI map in BMSHereās how the map looks like before being included in the UI:

RE: The 3-position canopy switch
I have that real switch wired in my pit and it works perfectly Sobad. So I suspect a programming issue.
Mine is the real one, except I screwed the direction and put the momentary up, but thatās irrelevant for this case.
I programmed it with X-key and set the down part as keypress: canopy close and key release: canopy stop.
the up part is programmed as keypress: canopy open and key release: canopy stopAnd it works like a charm.
Furthermore, what you describe is more like a āSTEP REPEAT functionā where in fact what we have in BMS is a single press full action function
If you were right we would need to use repeat functions to program it fine but thatās not the case,on my end, using keystroke only (no cockpit switch) I can open the canopy with a single press of the canopy open callback and the canopy opens fully
I can stop the canopy with a single press of the canopy stop and I can close the canopy with a single press of the canopy close callback. So even for the keystroke, it is not like you describe.
And I confirm that current behavior works perfectly fine. -
RE: Bug report: I get blasted out of the sky by absolutely nothing
1. there is no such things as an early blast in BMS
2. even the real frag patterns of weapons are not implemented , so in the unlikely event that the OP got fragged by its own bomb, he should have been very close to the hit point
3. the huge number of hit from a single GBU-54 doesnāt make any sense to me. -
RE: ACMI file size reverting to 20MB?
mine stays at 500
did you switch pilotās logbook? -
RE: 4.35 MFD font impossible to read at 'normal' zoom levels.
I suggest you all remove the sarcasm and lack of respect from your forum posts rather than discussing remove or keep stuff from BMS
That would be a start towards better understanding between groups and that may provide a better future for BMS dev and users
