    • ImagesToPDF: Converts your directory of plate packs into a PDF file

The problem: The approach plates that come with KOTR and other theaters are a bunch of images in a giant, nested directory structure. Not great for viewing on a tablet or similar.

The solution: Collect the images together as a PDF, and include a table of contents, generated from the directory structure, so that you can quickly navigate to an airport’s plates on your tablet using ForeFlight or something else.

This is what I wrote. The code is at https://github.com/RISCfuture/ImagesToPDF

Example plate packs generated by this tool are at https://mega.nz/folder/qoZVFZjB#YNLYRUrSHTk7VlYWuMeE1w

      FAQ:

Why is this a macOS tool written in Swift when Falcon BMS is very much a Windows game?

I am an iOS app developer and Ruby on Rails web developer, not a .NET developer. Sorry.

Can I use this tool to generate my own plate packs?

Sure. You need a Mac, and you need enough technical wherewithal to install the Xcode Developer Tools and use the Terminal app to clone a GitHub project. If you can handle that, then follow the instructions on the GitHub page.

Are these plate packs up to date?

They were at the time I made post, but I am not making any guarantees about keeping them up to date with future updates to the campaigns.

What size are these? What if I want other sizes, like for my printed kneeboard?

The tool defaults to generating letter-size pages (8.5″ × 11″). Check out the help documentation to learn how to customize the page size.

    • RE: Inverted throttle + idle detent not working

@Tumbler31 Just tested this out on U3. Still broken, but better!

I used the Alternative Launcher to set myA/B and idle thresholds correctly, like so:

      1.png
      2.png

But then launching into BMS, the axis thresholds are reversed (red on top, green on bottom):

      3.png

You can fix this by setting the thresholds in BMS itself, but of course, that fix is overwritten next time you launch using the AL.

    • RE: Does `g_fRadioBalance` still work?

@Kavelenko Because we want UHF on the left, not the right.

Mouse in one eye is a known issue with all VR headsets so far. JHMCS in one eye is realistic.

    • No more UI in VR view? (U5)

Hey, not sure if this is a known bug or change, or if this is new, but I am seeing only black in my headset when I am in the UI (2D mode) in OpenXR. Is there a config or something I’m missing to put the UI back in the VR headset like it was in U4?

    • RE: Mouse cursor disappeared; couldn't get it to reappear (VR)

@oleuzop Varjo Aero with OpenXR. I have a Razer mouse, but no special mouse software.

I think the clicking left+right mouse button trick gets it out of a state where you’re scrolling a knob and it doesn’t realize you “un-clicked”, but that’s not the case here, because that didn’t work.

    • Mouse cursor disappeared; couldn't get it to reappear (VR)

I was flying a multiplayer campaign mission in 4.37.U4, in VR (OpenXR). Towards the end of the mission, my mouse cursor disappeared. This has happened for me many times before in previous versions of BMS. The way I usually get it back is to press the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously; that would make the cursor reappear. This time nothing I tried brought my mouse cursor back. Any ideas what might have happened?

    • DED became nonresponsive

BMS 4.37.U4, multiplayer campaign mission, shortly after takeoff, the DED became non-responsive. Not sure if I did anything or it just happened, but it happened while my wingman and I were debugging Link16 settings and going through the L16 DED pages.

At first the DED wouldn’t respond at all. I couldn’t use the robber, and I couldn’t use the keypad. I discovered that if I hit RCL on the keypad, I could use the dobber, but the keypad still didn’t work. If I hit any other keypad key (0-9), then the dobber and the keypad stopped working. Hitting RCL made the dobber work again but not the keypad.

This was on the home page, no scratchpad open, nothing special. The problem continued for the rest of the flight. Ideas?

    • RE: Inverted throttle + idle detent not working

@Tumbler31 Unfortunately, that didn’t do the trick. I launched BMS Launcher, reset the throttle axes to be unassigned, quit and relaunched BMS Launcher, bound the two throttle axes, inverted them, and set the detents.

The idle detent still works backwards. Moving the throttle backwards through the detent causes the in-game throttle to move to the idle position, and moving the throttle forwards through the detent causes the in-game throttle to move to the cutoff position.

Giving this topic some visibility outside of the Virpil forums, since I suspect it is a bug in BMS generally: https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/25023/inverted-throttle-idle-detent-not-working?_=1681530515058
