RE: Question about Landing Gear Implementation
Thanks for the replyās. Was not sure if this was actually modeled in the sim and was surprised when it happened. Couldnāt find the exact documentation in the manuals so thought Iād ask around.
Thanks again!

Question about Landing Gear Implementation
I recently had a brain fart and forgot to pull up my gear before 300 kts. and had hung landing gear. The Left Rear LG indicator light went dark when I first attempted to raise the LG but the Nose and Right Rear lamps stayed on. I cycled the LG handle again and got all three lights to go out. Caught up with my wingman for a visual check and he said I had all my LG stowed and didnāt see any doors open so I went along with the mission as planned with no issues.
On egress, due to my earlier mishap and the fact that I was low on fuel, we decided I would take an alternate airbase so I wouldnāt cause an issue with a closed runway at home plate. When I contacted the alternate and got in the pattern I decided to use the ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION due to my error on take off and suspicion that the landing gear might be damaged. I was expecting one of the rear wheels to malfunction due to earlier indications. To my surprise I had both rear wheel indicators illuminated and the nose wheel was dark. I also had no indication on the HUD for approach. After some quick discussion with the flight lead about weather or not to eject somewhere safe or try to land it I decided I would try to land with damaged nose(?) gear.
It is shortly after this point that the unexpected occurred and brings me to my question. When I turned on final and my airspeed dropped below 180 kts, I heard a clunk and noticed I was now getting landing cues on the HUD. I looked at the LG indicator lights and my Nose indicator was now green. I continued in for a successful landing and was able to use braking to clear the EOR since I lost usage of my NWS as a result of using the Alt Gear.
That being said, my question isā¦Will gravity cause the nose wheel to lock into place after falling below a certain speed when using the Alt. Landing Gear? I have read about this somewhere, but canāt remember exactly where. Tried to find in the docs. and this is the closest thing I could findā¦
T.O. BMS1F-16CM-1 (Page 235)
āAlternate gear extension provides a pneumatic āuse only onceā means to lower the landing gear. The alternate gear handle when pulled opens the landing gear doors, release the main legs from stowing and they lower and lock in place thanks to gravity and airflow. The nose wheel lowers against airflow and must be pushed forward thanks to the pneumatic system of the alternate gear extension. For this reason, it should be accomplished at the lowest possible airspeed below 300 knots and preferably below 190 knots to ensure nose wheel gear lock.āThanks in advance for any insight!

RE: Welcome to our new home!
How do you get image to show in Sig. ? Mine just has a link to the Imgur webpage where the image is.

RE: "Gentlemen, You have a Race!"
There was another video of that one but damned if I can find it now.
Found it! Canāt believe that was over six years ago. Time flies.

RE: "Gentlemen, You have a Race!"
I definitely didnāt survive running in to that sign trying to get to the ramp and park! Yes there was a winner, but I donāt remember who, that was back in the day of 4.32 .
We took off from Kimpo. Rules were to not cut the steerpoints, fly with smoke on, fly under the big bridge, and fly through any hangar at the airbase. First back to the ramp and parked was the winner. We used to do this once a month or so.
Pilots I remember being in the video were Shadow, Dutch, Squidbait, Hard Deck, myself and I canāt remember who the 6th pilot was.
Glad you liked that airtex2019!
I remember participating in a 801st memorial flight back when I was in the 420th several years ago. We flew this same route so you guys must have been practicing. I believe the 27th showed up as well. One hell of a fun night. I remember it being called a boat race and there had to be 10 or 15 of us. There was another video of that one but damned if I can find it now. I remember watching Shad skidding by sideways off the left side of the runway on the chaotic landing back at the airfield. Thanks for the memory! Been a while since I have done anything like that in BMS.

RE: Installation issue
I would try to reinstall F4 and check if it helps. As TommyGun suggested the minimal installation is enough - no point to waste HDD space as you will not use itā¦
BTW, maybe stupid question but⦠by āorginalā disk you mean Falcon 4.0 from Microprose, right? not F4 Allied Force from Lead Pursuit?
ā¦and turn off anti-virus. Some files get quarantined by AV, including Windows Defender. Your can turn AV back on after you finish installing.

RE: BVR Match Play AI does a weird initial crank putting it at disadvantage
I usually donāt get too excited about issues within the DF module as I donāt think it has been a priority with the dev team for quite some time.
Maybe itās trying to beam your radar if you have him hard locked, or perhaps the AI thinks it is part of a 4 ship and is doing a pincer move with his āghost friendsā.
TE would probably behave better, but I do understand that DF mode is much easier for practice. I would just keep playing it over and over again and see if behavior changes over time.

RE: BMS status rant
Our vFW members kept 4.34U4 installs and that is still the version we use for wing flights until the newer versions are proven stable.
We still go on āunofficialā flights using the latest version to keep up with the new procedures, test for CTDās etc.
Just throwing this out there because I still think 4.34 is still worth flying and maybe you wouldnāt get so frustrated if your wing took a similar approach. I can wait a looooong time for the ship to be righted as long as the previous version still gives me what I want.
