As always, a fairly detailed documentation of your deliveries would be of great help in understanding wherein the issue lies.

Key word being “wild”, in relative to the missile.

I’ve seen no indication that flares do not work. Just because heaters don’t abruptly make wild turns does not mean that they have not been decoyed.

RE: SA-10 launch, defending…
Pardon me, but regarding SAMs like the SA-10 you can, and should make a few blanket statements, and not attempting to outmanoeuvre them is one of those. With that range, support for multiple concurrent launches and soft locking, you’ll just be relying on pure luck trying to outmanoeuvre it. Unless you positively know that you’re at the edge of its range, dive for the deck. If I stumbled so close as to be able to see the smoke trail from a launch whilst at above low altitude, I’d rather take my chances with a 90° dive and lighting the burners.

Yeah… In the quest for (a very unnecessary) detail, the devs have missed the simple broader picture; TIR is just a tool to look around, not simulate some virtual head.

RE: ECM-jamming
Why not? Put his ECM patrol route within 40nm of any AD units you want jammed out, worked perfectly for me with EF-111s.

RE: What to do about Patriots?
Delilahs. Think they’re more sophisticated than the HARMs available, at least considering the affiliated systems of the Hornets. Do proper planning before you take off, it’s a very small chance that they start moving after you’re in the pit.

RE: ECM-jamming
Jamming in DCS is very limited, to the point of being almost useless in e.g. the A-10C.
It does indeed work in BMS. Just keep in mind that turning on your ECM attracts attention, and that it’s the strongest to the front and rear.

RE: Survivability strenght of the F-16
I wonder if e.g. small arms and HMG damage isn’t abstracted. Take a look in Tacview at how much fire is directed towards you should you e.g. overfly a hostile airfield. I think the case could be made that you’re only actually informed about the Golden BB, and hits that don’t cause any failures or particular structural damage are left out.

RE: Survivability strenght of the F-16
Read of B-52s RTB’ing with battle damage during Linebacker, but yeah, not from a direct hit by an SA-2. When that happened all I can recall occurring was a complete and instant loss of airplane and aircrew alike.
As for those that survived hits, you have to remember that this was arguably the best the USAF was during the entire war, having more experience of dealing with SAMs and better equipment for it than ever before. Consider all the ECM, both from EW planes and the self defence from the bombers, and all the Shrikes and Standards flying from Wild Weasels when the SA-2s did attempt to engage. No wonder many missiles either missed completely, or failed to put enough shrapnel into their targets to take them down.
Come to think of it, I can actually recall reading of a Phantom that received pretty much a direct hit and managed to RTB with both pilot and GIB unhurt.
