RE: 8K texture enhancement for F-16 block 50 (BMS 4.35 U3)
Hey,
Originally I was about to increase the resolution of the texts to keep them not blurry at extreme zoom levels.
As time progressed I found a few things nice to be upgraded to extreme high resolution. It is work in progress but will upload the .dds files for download.
A sneak peak:
Screenshot 1
–-------------Screenshot 2
–-------------Screenshot 3
–-------------Unfortunately the forum degrades the quality of the screenshots, they are crystal clear in real life.
The textures are converted to 8192x8192 and objects have been completely manually redrawn, however there is still much progress to come. There is not much impact on fps.
Hope you’ll like it.8K Jeez

I hate to break it to you guys, but the Super Hornet and Growler flight models should be nearly - if not - identical. Where any differences in FQ arise are solely attributable to mass/inertia effects.
C/D and E/F are very different - and again, even those differences are most apparent as a combination of thrust inertial differences.
WE KNOW, THAT’S WHY WE ARE WORKING ON IT

RE: BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal
Good Day, All,
I haven’t posted an update for awhile, so here goes…
The work mentioned in post 394 is on going. The Growler Project is still on track. As for the flight modeling, Brother TGW has been evaluating different computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs and we seem to have settled on one. We’re hoping to "get some numbers " soon!good news

RE: BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal
the problem is that you can’t develop a reliable rhino without code change because the G vs GW curve is hardcoded for the HORNET
so the work your are doing on a FLCS that is incorrect might need to be redo again.
First, update me with the Rhino FLCS
You should join us at the Discord Channel

RE: BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal
Hi, Seb,
We’re still unable to repro what you’re seeing, and we are using the current acdatas( as are now in the Files) with the Hornet FLCS and fuel tables. Also, Mp MP Gang is flying the Rhino most of the time, and he lands at airbases, with no issues what so ever.
Thinking of you, I specifically asked my Bud how he lands the Rhino. He says, touch down around 160 CAS, and NOT at high GWT. The RL F-18 has landing weight restrictions, and it looks like ours does , too. I’m also told that you can aerobrake the Rhino, but don’t use airbrakes while doing so(it seems to slam the nose wheel down) .
Another source tells me that in the RL jet don’t use wheelbrakes above 115 CAS.eddie fixed hitbox and fuel flow tables, thanks anyway

RE: F-18C weird behavior
Is it safe/possible to take off like this … or does it oscillate out of control?
Is there an easy edit to the *afm file, we can make? (Maybe something for the Fighter Mafia crew to track and distribute?)
not happening while taking off

Ask Mav-jp, he knows the afm very very well

@Bad:
Know issue with F-18 fm
first time i see it

RE: F-18C weird behavior
Now THAT’S goofy…my suspicion would be that if Hornet wing flexure is modeled, there is something wrong with it that gets exhibited with heavy stores loadings.
But I’m also inclined to think the model isn’t that sophisticated…so I’m back to it being just plain goofy…
yes that’s right

RE: BMS Other Fighters Mafia (BMSOFM) Journal
Hi, Seb, Just to follow up from you Discord conversation, was this landing issue seen before or after your work with fuel flows? I’m trying to repro, but I’m seeing this at all in the Rhino, in several theaters. That is in carrier landings. Just a thought, but have you tried landing at different bases.
All, What Seb has described is that it looks like his gear is semi-retracted upon landing, and his jet blows up when he does.
Also, if anyone else wants to join the fun of “The Hunt for the Perfect Rhino” (;) ), I put the F18E Performance NATOPS in the Mafia Files. It’s the F18-EF-200 pdfthe problem persist with stock or modded files, Eddie is working on Rhino Fuel flow tables but with no luck until now, that means i’m not using rhino with fuel flow tables because the sim crash
