Not “my first Sony” but my first F-16 simulator game. Loooong time ago on the Atari 1040ST.

RE: Central Europe Theater
@JOKER_duke said in Central Europe Theater:
Making cold war style campaigns base on Central Europe Theater is my longtime dream.
My dream will come true in bms 4.38…
I hope so. I have been waiting forever for this theatre. For me having only this one would be enough!

RE: Where to find Balkans for BMS 4.33?
@Aragorn I managed to find the file I needed. Installed and works fine.
To cure your curiosity, I’ll tell you why I needed this file. I have built an entire cockpit for a F-16 MLU version. All switches, knobs, displays etc. In fact I am still building and improving this cockpit. After making some adjustments to my cockpit, I wanted to test some things. Everything works fine with BMS 4.33, F4toSerial and Yame64, which is kind of my baseline/zero version. But I needed to re-install some things and wanted to try Balkans but must have misplaced the file and could not find the file with that specific version of the Balkans theater anymore.
Anyway, despite all the “help” over here, the wall is painted red now.

RE: Cougar TQS with TM HOTAS magnetic base?
The setup you describe is what I use. I also do not have a TUSBA as I found this rather expensive. My solution was to use an Arduino. The wires coming from the throttle pcb are connected to an inexpensive Arduino (Pro Micro). On this Arduino I used the (free) MMJoy2 software. The only thing I changed on my throttle was to replace the old potmeter with a new Hall sensor. Works like a charm.

RE: Santa's wishlist for BMS
My biggest wish for the next few BMS updates would be NO new features. Just for the next two updates or so, no new features and certainly no work on other aircraft. Just focus on perfecting the original F-16.
Also put the effort in reworking the GUI. Why can’t we have a decent GUI that works with modern monitors instead of the 1980 style GUI?
Along with the GUI a really good interface for assigning joystick, throttle, rudder and all switches. One that makes it easy to assign everything. And keeps all settings! I know there are other tools to do this. But why not build it into the simulator in the first place?
Once that all works flawless, then direct attention to other features.

RE: Ram ?
One thing you have to think of is not very well known. When using a motherboard with DDR5 memory the speed of the memory is reduced when you use 4 sticks instead of just 2 sticks. Most motherboards have 4 slots and can have 4 sticks but the speed depends on the lanes used.
Normally you would try to buy the fastest RAM module you are willing to pay for. So if you buy lets say two 16GB sticks with 6000 MT/s and use them, your motherboard will reach that speed. But if you buy two more later and use all four slots, your memory speed will likely drop to about 4000MT/s or less because of the lanes architecture.
When I built a new pc last december, I too wanted to start with 2x16GB and upgrade later when needed. I had my eyes on 6400MT/s memory. Then doing research I learned about this and decided to only use 2 out of the 4 slots, maintaining the high speed. I went for 2x32GB 6400MT/s memory with fast timings.

RE: Intel i7 14700K + nvidia 4070ti super 4K?
Just did a quick test to see the actual values. The values in the circles are the temperatures. The bars below show the utilization in % and MB.
(Top left GPU 74% means that fans spin at 74%)

RE: Intel i7 14700K + nvidia 4070ti super 4K?
Well, it is way overkill for BMS, I have a 14600 with 64GB RAM and a 4070 ti card. I have three 32"1440p screens (7680x1440 pixels) and 4 other small screens.
I always have AIDA64 on a separate screen to show the actual usage and temperatures. My pc is already overkill as I always see that both RAM and video memory are only partly used. 32 GB RAM and 8GB would be more than sufficient (DCS uses more of the memory). Also both the CPU and the GPU are under 100% utilization. BMS itself show a steady 165fps rate on the three main screens.

RE: Upgrading to nvidia 4070ti
The 4070ti is a very nice card. About a month ago I replaced my pc and installed a 4070ti in the new pc. Performance in F$ is really good (with triple monitor setup 7680x1440 pixels).
Your present cpu may not have the power to fully load the 4070ti. But you are probably not buying an expensive videocard for just one year. It will perform well and if in the future you buy a new motherboard/cpu it will even perform better. Only if you are certain you wont be replacing the motherboard/cpu in the next couple of years, it will be overkill and a less expensive videocard will do as well.
If you go for the 4070ti, just wait a few weeks. A new version (4070ti super) was introduced earlier this week. It will be available end of the moment. That might mean that the present 4070ti may see some price drops or special promotions at stores with too much in inventory.

RE: Bms + 4k ?
I have a triple monitor setup with 3x 32" monitors. Total pixels 7680x1440.
(RTT and YAME drive another 6 screens) -
RE: Falcon 4 cd
If you don’t have a drive anymore, it may be cheaper and easier to just buy the Steam version of Falcon 4. It costs 6,99 euro and works too. No hassle with drives and/or compatibility issues.

Yes, I am using the latest version of RTT. I do not use Helios at all.

MFD response very slow in 4.37.3
After installing the latest update (4.37.3) I noticed that the response of the MFD’s has become very slow. When I push one of the buttons on the Thrustmaster MFD or when I use the DMS on the stick, it takes a few seconds before the MFD screen is updated. When I look at my main monitor, I can see that the MFD’s there get updated immediately.
Before with older versions I never had this problem. Could this be an incorrect setting somewhere? I thought all settings are correct, but I may have missed something. Or maybe something related to the directX?
I use a triple monitor setup for the main screen. For the MFD’s I have to 8" screens behind the Thrustmaster MFD’s. When I use 4.33 there is no delay at all. Framerate on this setup with 4.37.3 shows as just over 100fps. Video memory is 8GB, RAM is 64GB.

RE: Weird behaviour after installing 4.37.3
Okay, I thought the Israeli theater was already updated for 4.37.3 as well.
(God, I hate updates… )
Now my main problem is that the game seems to be very slow in response. Flying is okay, but the MFD’s (through RTT) take several seconds before responding. When I try 4.33 they respond instantly.
