    • RE: New installation option for BMS

It’s good to see more and more games playable on linux (Arma 3 is working also very good even on my 9 yr old pc!).

I guess I will stay a while with windows for playing games, but having in mind that Win 10 might f*ck up one day and become a ‘Service’ to be payed periodically,
(jeah I know they sweared not doing so but tbh, we all know how much worth such statements are), it feels very good to know that there are options!

    • RE: HD Graphics

Is some kind of driver overwrite enabled?
      I would check NVidia Control Panel (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client\nvcplui.exe),
NVidia Game Experience (don’t think it recognizes Falcon),
and probably - if possible the Windows 10 Gamebar (don’t know if it recognizes Falcon too)
and other tools that might have access to the driver.

    • RE: 3440x1440 display sometimes loads, but not always

I also have a 3440x1440 display from samsung with a GeForce MSI 1070 and had no problems.

I use the RTTClient/RTTServer as display extraction and I think with fullscreen (not windowed).

    • RE: BMS Community size: just how big is our community anyways?

      @Stevie:

…even more non-mainstream - people who know and honor the difference between a simulation and a game.

Well lets group sim-games together, otherwise comparing one simulator against the whole mainstream gamingscene would be even more hilarious

And don’t let us be too picky about the term “Sim” because that would open a new (and endless) discussion

    • RE: BMS Community size: just how big is our community anyways?

When I was a young boy, all passengers in the plane where clapping their hands on touch down.
Now I am the only one clapping - the others open their belts and bag hatches instantly on the first squeek.

      The difference of a
      non-mainstream market to a non-mainstream part of a market
is not comparable with the difference of a
mainstream market to a non-mainstream part of a market

      declaration:
      non-mainstream market: Gamers (… - 2005)
      non-mainstream part market: FlightSimGamers
      mainstream market: CandyCrush Gamers (2005 - 2029)

Simply put - if you don’t like candycrush - mask it away 🙂

Edit: btw. tbh I play mainstream games too - simply because I don’t launch falcon if I only have an hour
      Edit 2: But no CandyCrush!

    • RE: Task switching

I had several crashes after alt+tab.
If I would have to give a percentage, I would say ~5% in 2D mode, 15% in 3d.

I also have the feeling it might be Video Driver dependent - I had times with zero problems, and then it happened several times in a row.

Additionally I don’t play often - every few months I play for a few weeks

    • RE: Update 4

The Ringtone when my boss calls, is the sound from the SA-10 in the RWR (back from v4.32).
By the way I spent my sig to the SA 10^^.

Last Week I played around with the SA10.
If there are a lot of planes around you, you might see spikes while SA10 engages other flights.
If you are alone, probability the sa10 engaged you when you see the spikes is very high.
Get low, turn & burn be enough when you are up to ~40nm close.

When you are closer and it engaged you, a HARM might save you. The S-300 Missiles for long shots go up to 80k ft and then go down on you.
The flight to ceiling takes quite a while, enough time for an AGM88 to engage it.

P.s.: Put RF to quiet or silent might raise survivability. At least in RL Sa10 can use your Radar Altimeter, Radio com, ecm, etc for passive observation

    • RE: Flew straight and level

      @Tiger423:

I flew straight to the target site and level for 200 miles I never increase attitude so this sim must also have a flatearth

Absolutely natural gaining altitude when flying level ^^.

Let’s make a Perpetuum mobile which flys around the world using it’s gained altitude while flying level as energy to move forward ^^

    • Close missile evasion

Checking the tape of my last flights wingman missile, i don’t know whether AI had luck or skill.

The manoever and the timing is really awesome, follow the AIM-120C of Panther 12 (my AI wingman).
The missile gets launched around 1:54. it is 2000ft away from target (Su27) at 2:43 and ends at 2:57

    • RE: Altimeter query.

but in lower airspaces it is necessary all planes of the location use the same barometric pressure for division (while above specified height all planes have to use QNE).
