RE: Campaigns Mission Planningā¦
who? where?
is ready to report for violating spirit of the forum rules
Sorry,
In order to continue living with my family I had to sign contract that stipulates, every 5 minutes of game time ,I have to say out loud ā¦ā¦ āitās just a game!ā
But seriously, I think itās pretty cool to go fly among your fellow defenders, even if they are just AI muppets, and interact with them to a degree!
Iām fishing for ideas which will assist with quickly and efficiently establishing a DCA barrier, so I can wreak havoc behind enemy lines !

Campaigns Mission Planningā¦
Hi Guys,
I think I left Falcon for a while due to the high work load with mission planing. Now Iāve come back to BMS wanting to enjoy the great number of improvements and the amazing graphics, but still concerned about what assets are going to be covering my 6 when Iām out doing the real business.
Iāve searched and read what relevant posts I can find, and referred back to some great articles ā¦.such as https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?28325-Campaign-Guide-to-Mission-Planning .
Iāve also watched some great tutorials by Krause, as posted here on the forums and Arts links. But when it comes to managing the opening campaign I still feel Iām micromanaging with maximum effort, and for only small results
ā¦ā¦So the question is, am I doing it right?
My fist strategy at Zero hour with Rolling Fire, KTO is:
Turn OFF all PAKS and priorities PAKS 13/17/11 along the designated FLOT
Set Target Type: Aircraft ; Mission Type : DCA to establish maximum air defenses.
This has now also removed control by HQ, as I understand. At this stage I am expecting to see, with my fingers crossed, a nice allocation of Air assets along the border. But this usually happens at a pace and random activity that would put your local ice cream delivery vans to shame! I have found that DPRK aircarft have pretty much flooded in and roam free to spread fear and panic among the populace and me ! I pretty sure that USAF and ROK doctrine wouldnāt support such an effort!
The other idea is to manage selected squadrons, having disassociated them from HQ, and to start planning defensive counter air flights individually. With DCA missions lasting for 30 minutes this equates to few missions being planed.
By my calculations, establishing 8 flights spaced by approx 18nm to cover the 144 nm across the FLOT, I estimated that it would take a minimum of 4 squadrons of aircraft to competently manage this task if thereās a 1 hour turn around for returning aircraft! Planning for 4 waves of A/c over approx 2hrs of flight time, the returned fist wave of A/c should be ready to roll and replenish flight for the 4th Wave of A/c. This is estimated for a Squadron of 18 A/c and DCA flights of 2.
OK so itās just a game I here ya say, but a guy can pretend heās a qualified F.C.I. (Fighter Combat Instructor) when F4 is running. So how much effort do you guys put in to mission planning and establishing a successfully run campaign?

RE: F-16 (BMS) Flight model Stress Test, Wheel brakes to 15,000ft in 45secs
Interesting topic and while browsing I thought of this documentary about the development of the Su-27 which also incorporated some interesting facts about the F-15ās rate of climb records. Apart from the common practice of stripping the paint down to reduce weight, tests were performed in winter time so the engines can produce a maximum thrust, apparently due to the air density being greater, as stated in the below video link . This apparently assisted in maximizing the best climb rate, starting at ground level !
So, as already stated by others we need to know the required environmental variables to plug into the equation, because thatās what this simulation really is, right One big equation. And therefore, as long as the HFFM can factor in these real variables then similar outcomes should be reached. Yes?
Anyway just my 0.0000002c and another excuse to post a another great aircraft doco.:D
@19:20 for the P-42 & F-15 climb records.
Found interesting links regarding engine thrust Vās density https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/jet-engine-performance-in-cold-weather.721313/ and http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83639&page=9

RE: Home built full F-16 cockpit using BMS 4.32
Great topic and certainly agree with Red Dog.
some building a tool to fly, these always fly first
some building a replica object that is not intended to be used.Spent the last 2 years plus building a pedestal (on rollers) to house my Saitek throttles and radio equipment. Spent more time designing and drawing on CAD than actual time flying my simulator. And the projects still goingā¦ā¦
Now thanks to this post Iām making measurements for an upfront control panel with MFDās either side layed out on my desk !Question for Focaldesign.
What size monitor is that LCD and will you still need it when you complete your pit?
Just kidding, but I am interested in the screen size?

RE: 4.33 Direct download
Plus I would imagine future updates to BMS and possibly BMS 4.34 would be released via torrents as well.
OMG BMS434 !!:birt:
Are you trying to tell us something here Ice??? And Iāve only just figured how to download and install 4.33!

RE: Kolbe's Pitbuilder Key File: "BMS Full Layout w Placeholders (US Int)"
Having used the File Editor to check and compare the āBMS - Pitbuilder.keyā vs āBMS Full Layout w Placeholders (US Int)ā, they are actually two different layouts.
Of course I can edit the standard āBMS - Pitbuilder.keyā to match, but thought best to check if thereās an existing copy of āFull Layoutā. Maybe missed during BMS433 Launch.
Confirmation of layoutās pictured below for reference:

Kolbe's Pitbuilder Key File: "BMS Full Layout w Placeholders (US Int)"
Hi Kolbe,
I am just curious as to where I might locate the Pitbuilder keyfile titled āBMS Full Layout w Placeholders (US Int)ā?
