My suggestion would have more to do with the dynamic campaign and the Virtual Pilot’s ability to control ground forces in terms of movement and where and when they might attack enemy forces. Put the pilot in more of a commander’s role and allow him/her to fly preemptive or follow-up missions in support of the “commander’s” strategy.

What Should I Do?
First, let me thank those of you who helped with the stellar gift ideas for my beautiful fiance.
Okay, down to business.
I’m attempting to fly AI Strike missions in both the Korean and Israeli theaters in which I seem to have adequate DEAD and ESCORT support and yet upon approach to my ground objectives I’m getting clobbered with SAM interference.
I’m not outrunning my support elements, they’re simply failing in their responsibilities to the success of my missions.
I’m a little O.C.D. in that I’m not good with aborting a mission prior to discharging my payload and receiving a crappy mission rating, so what should I do?I wanna hear from the vets here.
Do I abort, return to base, take the rating hit and hope for another opportunity to hit those targets?
I’ve watched all of Krause’s vids, specifically the one on fragging your own support missions and currently it seems to me that I’m not able to frag a single mission in the midst of the regularly generated campaign, so what do I do about these ground threats?
In Korea with the Block 50 I’ll take a couple of MAVs or have my Wingy take some AGM-88s along to take out SAM radar installations but in Israel, I’m not given the option to load up with MAVs or 88s.FULL DISCLOSURE - I’m an old school LOMAC guy. I love deploying MAVs against armored columns and GBUs against static ground targets so I should probably be flying an A-10 but currently, the tutorial vids on the A-10 within BMS are sorely lacking.
Any suggestions aside from, “just juke the SAMs and carry on” are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,

RE: Holy F__k already! This is STOOOPID!!!
Thanks for the encouragement Tazz.
I’ve never attempted to use Mavs without a TGP and yes, I’m using the D-models.
I have however just noticed what could be a major problem.
My Falcon BMS desktop icon says “4.33 U1”.
I have update 2 and 3 downloaded and I guess I assumed I was up to date but I’m reinstalling them as my BitTorrent says "files missing next to all of my BMS updates.
In addition, I’ve noticed that an Update 4 has also been released. That’s what I’m working on now but I’m TOTALLY open to any other suggestions you may have.
Thanks so much for responding to what I’m sure was perceived as a raving mad man. -
Holy F__k already! This is STOOOPID!!!
Okay, I’m totally getting hella pissed!
I’ve watched Krause’s video, I’ve watched both of SuperNova’s videos, I’ve watched a handful of other videos AND I’ve read and even printed for in flight reference the portion of the manual that focuses on boresighting Mavs AND STILL, I’m only successful in getting the job done about 20% of the time!!!And the kicker is that I don’t know that I’ve failed yet again until I’ve invested another 45 minutes of my life to flying toward a primary objective only to find that once fired, my Mavs drop from their pods like stones!!!
Son of a ph____king bizatch already!!! What the hell am I doing wrong?!!!
Should I expect a “C” (Handoff complete) designation above the weapon station when the boresight is properly executed?
Because I’ve been able to hit targets with Mavs WITHOUT such designation.
Is it typical to get the “C” designation above the first station you sight and then lose it while sighting the second?
Is it required to sight on a moving target as in the tutorial even if your objective is static?
I typically sight on a building I come across en route and sometimes it works, AND MOST TIMES IT DOESN’T!!!
Holy crap already!!!
I’ve wasted all freaking day trying to find some consistency and despite the fact that I consider myself a VERY analytical thinker, I TOTALLY CAN’T!!!
Am I missing an update? And where do I find version info so as to ensure I’m totally up to date? Please understand, I’m not yelling at any of you. I’m typically a hella nice guy and I give preemptive thanks to anyone who can help but both of my large, relatively aggressive dogs went to the bedroom about 2 hours ago because things were apparently getting too intense for them.
I’m dying here. AND I’M FREAKING LOSING IT!!! I love those pups…
Please help!!! -
RE: A Couple of Questions
You’re totally right Blue.
Just tried again and this time my TWS didn’t even give me a heads up.
Knew I should have gone low earlier…:mad:The problem with a toss attack is that I’m not getting close enough to the objective to go with anything without it’s own means of propulsion.
Holy shit this is HELLA frustrating!!!I even did a thirty mile loop halfway to the object to ensure the other elements had time to do their thing.
On the bright side, I dig learning new stuff. In this case I’ve got my work cut out for me.
Seems it may be time to spend a little time on COMMS training in order to know what the hell the other elements are up to.
More research needed. maybe I can kill this thing with six mavs, or whatever I have left after killing the SAMs.I will say that with each subsequent attempt I’ve had an additional Bloody Mary to contend with which I’m guessing may be playing a role in my failure at this point.
:???::???::???:It’s a fresh new hell with each and every new attempt.

RE: A Couple of Questions
Thanks for the reply Mav-jp.
So if I understand, what you’re saying I may be out running my sweep/escort elements?
I have in fact considered that possibility back in my 4.0AF days but always rationalized that the computer generated flights would do their thing regardless what I do.I’m not gonna lie, I’ve dedicated nearly ALL of my Falcon study time to weapons systems, radar modes and navigation with nearly ZERO time dedicated to understanding how all the elements come together to pull off a successful mission.
Guess in a multiplayer game I’d be a HORRIBLE wing man.

A Couple of Questions
Let me preface these inquiries by saying, “Yeah I get it, you’ve gotta do what it takes to stay alive”.
However, I’m running into an issue on a single player campaign mission and I’m wondering if it’s something I should come to expect.I’m trying to bomb a production facility with a couple of GBU-10C/Bs.
My briefing shows no surface to air threats anywhere around the target nor on my flight path. The issue is that at about 80 miles from the objective I’m running into all kinds of SAM launches.
My first attempt I was able to shake the threats but in the process I burnt up so much fuel I had to abort and head back to base.
My second and third attempts did not turn out nearly as well…Getting ready to strap in and try again as I was able to get a little closer to the target the last time by shaking the first couple of SAMs and going NOE.
However, as soon as I popped up in order to hit the target at the designated altitude I got blasted.First question: Is it typical to encounter SIGNIFICANT anti-air threats of which my briefing makes no mention?
Second question: Arm delay and burst altitude issues aside, what’s the minimum altitude at which I must pass my target in order to get a successful hit with GBU-10s?BTW, this mission is a long flight requiring two external tanks so no chance of loading up Mavs or HARMS.
I should also mention that I’m several VERY SUCCESSFUL missions into this campaign so I suppose it’s conceivable that my briefing is lacking the most recent enemy troop and threat movements. Thanks so much,

Is This Possible???
I fly with Saitek X52 HOTAS and Pro Flight rudder pedals.
Unfortunately I’ve broken my Mini-DIN 6 pin cable that connects the flight stick to the throttle controller.
No biggie, I ordered a new cable.
In the meantime however, I’ve tried running my old ST290 Pro stick with the X52 throttle but have experienced some issues in that once in the sim I my rudder axis on the stick no longer works and the “shift, /” key binding that typically engages NWS does nothing.
In addition, I’m having some difficulty assigning controls on the X52 throttle to pit functions though the throttle itself functions without issue both on the setup page and in the sim.
Haven’t even bothered attempting to add the pedals to the mix as I’m hoping my new cable arrives SOON.I’m sure I could figure it out but what I need to know is whether or not it’s possible to fly with a mixed breed set up like this.
Of course if anyone has a silver bullet to throw out it may save me a lot of time better spent in the sim. Thanks in advance!
