We still have plenty of IPs for anyone wanting to learn the basics (zero experience) or go full real-life given the limitations of the sim - check out the experience level of the VTW
Welcome to our F16 Virtual Training Wing (VTW), home of the 7th Black Knights. We are a small group who specialize in training folks who are new to Benchmark Sims (BMS) and/or seasoned virtual Viper fliers, interested in learning, training, and fighting in the Viper, by taking it to the next level to fly as real life as possible given the limitations of the sim. We may be a small group but that’s by design so as to ensure excellent and comprehensive one-on-one training with a designated IP. With over 4000 BMS F16 flight hours (personally), logged over various virtual fighter wings over the years since 4.32, and having flown with several real-life viper pilots as well as other fast jet pilots, you’ll enjoy becoming proficient in the following:
-
Ground Ops/Familiarity Flight (FAM)
-
Beyond Visual Range (BVR)
-
Within Visual Range/Mutual Support (WVR/MS)
-
Air to Air refueling (AAR) OPS (edited)
-
Air to Ground Attack via General Purpose Bombs (CCRP/CCIP/DTOS) KOTAR RANGE OPS & Mark Points
-
DEAD/SEAD and Hunter/Killer
-
Air to Ground Attack via Smart/GPS Weps
-
IFR/TCN/ILS Navigation
-
Tactical Formation/Tactical Turns
After completing each Training successfully, a patch will be pinned certifying your demonstrated proficiency. Once all 9 are completed you will have earned the Swords Patch and will then become a permanent member, for LIFE*
The trainings are recommended to be conducted in the order listed above but that’s dependent on experience and not set in stone; a good goal would be to complete your training within 9 months (or sooner) from your FAM Flight, but that’s flexible based on RL stuff; but to remain in Active Training Status and an Active Member here we simply ask that you remain at least semi-active and have an ambition to work through courses 1-9 as cited above.
Your designated IP will be: kind, patient, provide encouragement, encourage baby steps, and help you in any way possible. Your IP will also keep reminding you that learning the Viper is a marathon and not a sprint, hence 9 months to learn the basics; thereafter, there’s still a ton to learn and it never really stops. The biggest takeaway? HAVE FUN AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS
