    • RE: Growing a VFW in 2017

Speaking for myself, I have to say that the airmanship concept is wholeheartedly grasped by every member of our wing. Airmanship, what is it? The mental model of operating a flying machine from cold and dark to shut down. It is situational awareness, decision making, task prioritization, and of course “flying the airplane”. For us, its been so impressive to watch new candidates come to the wing and embrace this notion. Repettion, following SOP’s and thorough debriefings have resulted in our wing members coming to every training, or combat sortie ready to keep it going, applying their previous experiences to the current task. Sharpened form skills, comms and tactical execution are what we see as IP’s. Its very rewarding. I dare say, we do teach airmanship. I love what you say about the community of it too, that is another notion which for us at the 8th has held true. We support each other in real life and call each other friends. Spirit, community and virtual combat, thats what its all about.

    • RE: AG mode Snowplow mode

So what your saying is you aren’t having the problem I am. I am familiar with what TMS is suppose to do, but the cursor will not slew……after ground stabilizing. Thanks guys , Hiya Blue.

    • AG mode Snowplow mode

While in AG mode selecting SP mode, cursor freezes. I hope this is a known bug.

    • 8th VFW "Wolf Pack" is looking for a few good candidates

Candidates, yes you heard me correctly. Not for the faint of heart. Let me introduce you to a “REAL” BMS experience, The Wolf Pack, the virtual 80th and 35th fighter squadrons, offers a unique BMS experience that follows a very “REAL” USAF modeled training program. Regardless of previous experience you will go from zero to hero. Our wings IP’s will teach you the necessary skills to successfully pass twenty IQT (Initial Qualification training) sorties and 10 MQT (Mission Qualification Training) sorties to become combat ready! Combat ready pilots will be expected to fly once a month to maintain currency and will be eligible to participate in our weekly flights. All interested pilots please submit an application at the following link. Good Luck!

    • RE: X65f mini stick issue

I have a solution to the ministick issue that I would like to share. It is a three step process.

      I. In your SST programming software set your ministick axis’ to bands. I created three bands 0-23%, 23-77%, and 77-100%. You will assign a function to RDR CRS left/right in the 0-23% and 77-100% respectively only, you will not assign a function to the middle range 23-77%. Do this for both X and Y axis.

II. Go into BMS setup and change the default shift arrow key assignment to any single key assignments not already being used. I used the arrow keys by themselves, left, right , up , down.

III. With the single key assignment in your setup its just a matter of assigning those 0-23% and 77-100% bands in the X and Y axis to those keys you assigned in setup.

Be sure to launch your SST with those assignments berfore flying the actual sim.

      Happy flying!
