RE: AV-8B Carrier operations
So I messed around with the Harrier tonight. There indeed a touchdown forward leap, but I found it can be countered by rotating nozzles to 110 on touchdown.

RE: How do I assign pre-planned targets to Rampage?
@MaxWaldorf said in How do I assign pre-planned targets to Rampage?:
just the recon in the UI…
Right, I use recon to select the target. Designate as WPN TGT #1 for example. Is there another step? With JDAMS or SPICE, you have to set them in the DED once the sim is loaded. Then you can see each weapon in SMS and what its target is.
EDIT
I figured it out. Needs to be STPTs! -
RE: AV-8B Carrier operations
@Radium I’m so thankful for everything you do, your models are fantastic. Finally getting the Wasp in BMS was so exciting. It looks great and works great too.

RE: AV-8B Carrier operations
@Mange first of all, when your speed is below 60 kts, it will show as 0. So its hard to know your true speed. Next, a bit surprising you’re doing vertical takeoffs, they waste a ton of fuel. When you takeoff, your nozzles are deflecting off the deck, giving you an extra push. As you rise higher, or leave the deck suddenly there’s less push and you lose speed. The reverse happens when you land. As you approach, your nozzles are pushing against just the air and sea. As you get close to the deck those nozzles ‘push’ against the deck and you get a small boost in speed. This is called Ground Effect, something helicopter pilots (and harrier pilots) are familiar with.

RE: AV-8B Carrier operations
@Kavelenko I’ve noticed that too.
My process is:
- request taxi
- taxi to position 5.
- request take off
- turn around and taxi to stern and line-up for takeup.
Once i’m properly cleared for TO, my wingman/wingmen are cleared as well, so they’ll taxi up and launch after I take off.

RE: Do we develop the F-35
I say definitely develop the F-35. I’m one of those weird BMS players that almost never flies the F-16. I fly Rhinos and Harriers from boats, and I love doing that. So having F-35B and F-35C would be right in my wheelhouse.
