RE: More tankers?
Guys, just saw your, well a bit old thread, … I think I can help a little that I know.
In Campaign dir there’s a file falcon4.aii , there under [ATM] section you’ll see these lines:
MinimumBDAPriority = 900 MinimumAWACSDistance = 90 MaximumAWACSDistance = 120 MinimumJSTARDistance = 70 MaximumJSTARDistance = 110 MinimumTankerDistance = 70 MaximumTankerDistance = 110 MinimumECMDistance = 30 MaximumECMDistance = 70
You might be interested in lines for tanker distance, … from my understanding these lines control distance from tanker packages - min - max. !! BUT , it could be distance from FLOT also - I’m not sure unfortunately.
You could ask for more help from someone “older” in BMS (like @Mav-jp ) , and there still a question is this still used, as those stuff are “relic” from original Falcon4.
But, that could help with with fraqging tanker packages., not how much I’m afraid, but how close one to the other.
Or, you can test , edit Min - Max values to something smaller, like Min = 50 Max = 70 (nm) and fast forward in campaign watching support/tanker mission frag.
Cheers
- p.s. @SpbGoro , you can actually control tanker fragging even from missiondat.xml for the campaign , look:

[Req] Add more A2G weapons valid sam targets
I tested much of possible variations in air to ground vs sam engagements.
So far I saw , sam (sa-10, sa-17) will engage only Harm’s , but no Jsow’s , SDB’s - gliders. , slam/er , cruise missiles … all legal sam targets.
I was perfectly able to obliterate sa-10 (well, put it out of action) unit surrounded with sa-17, sa15,sa-19, with only with 4 Jsow-A’s (flying FA18E).
I don’f find it much possible given the strength of that kind IADS. - for which is able to even shot down a GBUIs that by design , will/can this be refined in some update?
My 2 Harm’s were intercepted with no problem…
but, with no other (sam) targets flying around.
just as soon more then 4 air targets (mixed, weapons and planes), sam’s begin to behave erratically , not quite composed. - panic mode (no Awacs cover for any side, for early detection)If not for 4.36.x then for 4.37 , please have this in mind , sam can (and will) engage everything above mentioned.
Thank you.

I sometimes land Harrier … but it was nice patrol , calm before the storm.

Wasp 1/2 point data fix
@cougar56th
Hi, … tested Wasp take off and landing positions/locations. …it wasn’t working right.
No AI plane could land as PD’s were off.Fixed and adjusted … and tested
All working nicely now.Since Wasp (whole objective) is just copy of KTO (verified) then it is the same with “all?” theaters.
If want, push this up the chain, … so it stays “forever”
Cheers … (objective export is in code, if want xml, I’ll push… - pics below… yes naval manual will have to be adjusted… possibly?)

This is also one solution to problem.

RE: AV8B Hover Controllability in 4.37
@MaxWaldorf
Those settings are from me flying and tweaking AV8b+ since BMS 4.32
(well, of course, not all, as few didn’t exist at the time).
But if you look closely , you’ll see that these are pretty common., for all aircraft, with few exceptions. - not affecting flight model anyhow
@Kavelenko- avionicsRWRType 5 - since av8 don’t have dedicated rwr this will display rwr on HUD, like F18, which av8+ really has (AN/ALR-67(V)3)
- BrakeAbsorptionFactor 2.0 - not crucial, but helps braking on Wasp, short
- avionicsJDAMAvionicsType 1 - enable simple ripple for jdam steerpoint - precision steerpoint
- avionicsDLCursorAsWaypoint 1 - enable send radar GM/GMT cursor position via idm/datalink steerpoint (MP obviously)
- NoTefSound 1 - get rids of constant “flap” sound when controlled by FLCS
- NWSRateUp 10 - helps with turning the plane on small space, wasp deck (nose wheel turning rate)
- NWSRateDown 10 - same as above, but opposite, centering the nws when pedal released
- avionicsActivateMFDBoot 2 - jsut as it is cute, immersion, no other impact - but looks more real - as mfd’s now take time to heat up, initialize
- avionicsIFFTransponderSettings 63 - this one is default
- avionicsIFFInterrogatorSettings 15 - this one you really need if want to use IFF interogator (deafult 0, no interrogator, huh?)
Cheers
btw, while at that, this one is more real then current, in reality AV8/8+ has 4/6 chaff flare dispensers - with whole bunch of flares (since Desert Storm) - so this is closer to truth (180 of chaff/flare combination)

RE: TAS / CAS airspeed.
M8… before you write anything more… (you’ll thank me later )
Please check wiki for - TRUE airspeed , vs CALIBRATED airspeed , TAS/CAS.

Landing lights (all planes)
It is a nitpicky detail … but
When you look better (if not by error in perspective) you can see landing light pointing slightly down - and not directly in front of the plane.
…and is logical , since you need to slightly “flare” the aircraft on glidesclope.“Santa” , what’s the word ? Can we see the effect in 4.38 ?
Cheers, and Xmas , and New Year.

RE: Cbu's in windy target area
@didimos
There is/was implemented “system wind” in Falcon (BMS),… I don’t know if that works right in 4.36, but I remember it was working before.
See for yourself, just use CCIP with something “freefall”That means that “targeting computer” takes account for wind on current altitude and moves CCIP on predicted point (along with maneuvering). You can see this if you fly higher … CCIP pointer will be left/right even you fly level.
Can’t say for CCRP , probably the same thing, just it isn’t so much obvious, … you can try to test with stronger side-wind in mission , then you will see that target point will be also left/right from vertical bar., more offset when stronger wind.
But, again , “system wind” is not “magical” , and now we have different winds per altitude and turbulence and crosswinds , … system is not perfect… even it would be impossible for detect all parameters around you., even today with eg F35.
So as @VDK says , use WCMD if you want better precision from higher altitudes … but , if you’re still in for a “knife-fight” , then you’ll have to be significantly flying lower to avoid differential winds… it’s not impossible , but is kinda risky because , eg… if battalion have sa-19 , … but that you’ll know on RWR
“Fly into the wind…” , not sideways

Babysitting the AI
Ok…
I’m getting more and more frustrated with under paid job mentioned in title.
AI (wingmen) would really need some refinement , in general AA.
This is kinda 4th reload of the same mission, we get jumped with MIG-31’s , MIG-29S’s and SU-30(35)'s … and I always bite the dust saving “private Ryan”'s ass.
(we , two of us , are only left in squadron on day 4 , until next reinforcement)What I suggest, (maybe even beg for), is more control (micromanagement) of AI wingmen in the future, maybe even next patch , eh ?

“FLEX” - can we get “infinite loop” in self-defensive state (20-30nm) vs (current) one-circle and rejoin ?
-
New command for W/E/F - “GO TO” MY active steerpoint and f… flex there until I call you with Rejoin/Resume Mission ???
-
“RESUME MISSION” (Resume Briefed Flighplan) - Any idea what does it do?
I fail to see any joy with this …
- Of course, the list is not final and is open for discussion, ideas - what can/can’t
THANK YOU

RE: FALCON 4.0 HISTORY - THE MUSEUM
@Vyper37 said in FALCON 4.0 HISTORY - THE MUSEUM:
F-16 combat pilot was years ahead of its time… even had a dynamic campaign
Words of wisdom … +1 (something FalconX.0 lovers would never admit )
DI (Digital Integration/Dave Marshall) was ahead of it’s time.
F16CP even had ILS with limited A/P. - if on glideslope
…and that old lantirn bug in F16CP - if dropped tanks drops lantirn too, leaving 6xAGM65E … a wasteMy fav DI sim(s) before F16CP… were “Tomahawk” and “Fighter Pilot”. … duuuh… F16CP worked also on 64k Basic
