I discovered a long time ago that if I play a flightsim with lots of dogfighting and violent manovering for a long time that if I drive my car shortly after, instead of just sitting there, I’m always leaning into the corners as I turn the steering wheel etc as if the car is banking.

RE: I cant shoot in falcon 4.0 bms
Are you even loaded with any ammunition for the gun or carrying any missiles or bombs etc? If not, then you can press the trigger or pickle button as much as you want and nothing will happen.

RE: Turns in vectored approaches
I have found that whenever I get the call to turn for “Finals” on a visual approach, I am always way past the centerline of the runway after the turn. On hearing the call, I turn as hard as I can and then have to turn back to get on the centerline as I have overshot that much. Just as an experiment, what I have been doing is, recording it with ACMI and then playing it back on TACVIEW and I get the impression that the call is given when I am actually on the centerline itself and then I can see myself turn and then start to double back to intercept the centerline and line up on it. Even looking out to the side at the runway, the call seems to come as I am on the centerline. But when I look at my wingmans track, they turn far earlier and a gentle turn onto the centerline, in fact, they get the call to turn just after I get mine so with the separation between us, it works better for them Today, I tried dropping chaff/flares the moment I heard the call so I would hopefully see it on the playback to see exactly at what position I am in relationship to the runway but sadly it all went wrong, maybe better luck tomorrow. Or a visual approach with the ILS set then I would see better what is happening as to when I do get the call and cross the ILS.

RE: Maybe a clue as to why Balkans theater does not install for some people.
Having had a look at the “Installer” file with Winrar, the contents of the Balkans file are 12gb, and after installation yesterday using the installer, the total size of the Balkans directory is only 8.74gb. That must mean, not everything gets installed, or not everything gets installed as it is already present in BMS Falcon, or else almost 4gb of files gets installed elsewhere, but doing a check on the whole BMS folder, nothing else was added for that date time stamp.
But I am sure, when you install it, it only asks for about 8gb of spare space. But, it is working OK.
Only problem with installing it manually is you then have to edit the theatre.1st file and anything else that may need doing.

Maybe a clue as to why Balkans theater does not install for some people.
At the weekend, I tried to install the Balkans Theater and twice it failed despite saying that installation was complete, but when I opened BMS Falcon, it was not listed. I checked the theater.1st file and it was listed.
On those two attempts I had left the installer running whilst I did something else in the house. On the third attempt, I thought I would watch the installer carefully and see if I could spot something. Everything went fine, until the very end and very quickly a message popped up that fast I never got time to read it. But I managed to catch something on the lines of “Unable to install (Some file was refferred to)……insufficient space”. The instant the message vanished the message popped up “Installation Complete”, which it was not, it was unsuccessful again.
I cannot see why this was happening as I had plenty of free space on the hard drive and the installation program was also telling me how much space it would use and how much space I had etc. And after installation I still had space free.
Just for benefit of doubt, I uninstalled a theater I do not use and some other folders full of things I do not use and on the fourth attempt, installation was successful. On checking hard drive space, There was still plenty left and more than my earlier attempts so what was amiss I do not know and as to why the installer was telling me insufficient space.
Maybe if an installation log was made for the installer, there might be a better clue as to what was going wrong.

RE: Bullseye to BRAA Flashcards?
One of the best things I managed to buy off Ebay many years ago was an “Air Navigation Attack Computer” dated early '70’s, mine if I recall was Vietnam surplus issue. It will do many things, most I do not bother with, but it is the back of it which is the most useful for using Bullseye calls. Its a circular rotating disk which is marked up in degrees, the base is fixed and gridded. To use it, the center stud is the Bullseye reference point and you then rotate the disk so that the bearing in the call is over the index line at the top, you then using the grid measure up the distance called and make a plot, you also do that with your own bullseye position. And then you just rotate the disk until both plots match up on a vertical line on the grid and from that you get your intercept bearing from the top index line and you can also get the distance away you are from the TGT using the grid squares.
It may seem complex, but, when in use, you only have to do the one plot for the TGT as your own position you constantly keep updating every few minutes. Just takes a few seconds. Plus, to paint a better picture if your “Mud Moving” mark up the TGT on it, along with known SAM sites, enemy units and friendly units. That way you soon see if any “Bandits” that are called out if they are close to the TGT, between you and the TGT or well clear of the TGT. Plus if your doing CAP etc, you can avoid engaging them if they are over a SAM site etc or may have to pass over one. Once you have used it for a while, you soon find you can get the mental image of the calls in your mind and soonknow which ones to ignore or take notice off. Even constantly plotting them will give you a direction they are moving.

I also have another USAF “Attack Computer” for radar intercepts of a similar design which I prefer to use in the same way but I cannot see where I have placed it to get the part number off it.
But, it would not be hard to make one, it just needs a base with a grid printed on it, then a clear disk marked off at every 10 degrees and a tick mark for every single degree. Its then just a case of making a hole in both disks and putting a brass rivet etc through it to hold them together. I made something similar for playing Silent Hunter 4 many years ago. The hardest part was printing the degrees around the outer edge and I cannot recall how I finally did it but I may have just printed one out that someone else had designed and posted
In fact, just looked on Ebay, and there is one of the other type that I use and prefer:-

RE: Fuel warning on Hud
I know its the “Uncage” button and I only discovered the “Long Press” by accident whilst uncaging a maverick and just held my finger down on the “U” a bit to long for all my symbology to change to strafing. But, as I say, I cannot find any mention of it in the manuals etc.

RE: Fuel warning on Hud
And on a different note DH also says, just before a strafing run: “Instantly flicking the Dogfight switch, I called up my canon symbology…” When I do that I go into Dogfight Mode, even when in AG Mode, as expected. Is there a way to quickly access the gun for strafing?
I find that holding the “U” button down switches to strafing mode, Select, AG and then regardless of what I am doing, Mavericks or Bombs etc, just press and hold down “U”, strafing symbology appears in the HUD, and to go back to what I was doing, just press and hold “U” and I go back to what I was doing. Its ideal for that low level bombing run that is going pearshaped, quick switch to strafe, quick burst at the tgt and pull off. I don’t know what that key setting is as I have not seen it mentioned anywhere or shows up on a keyboard layout.

RE: BMS 4.34 u1 and u2 infected
I have just had problems with “U3” caused by Avast (I think). Even disabling Avast did not help. I only resolved the problem by redownloading “U3”, disabling Avast, and then running the file and it installed with no issues. I presume Avast may have quarantined part of the file the first time I tried installing it resulting in why it would not install in subsequent attempts after Avast had been disabled but looking in the “Virus Chest” nothing has been entered in it today. So its a mystery, perhaps a bad download.
In fact on reflection, it could not have been a bad download as I was getting an error message reporting suspicious files etc. Sadly it was not also reporting what program was reporting an error, just a normal Widows “Window” so could it have been Win 10’s only antivirus program?
