RE: Morphine's Profile
Oh… I didn’t catch in your orignal post that you are trying to learn the sim by using the original Falcon 4 manual. Your question makes more sense to me now. I’m not sure if any of the keystroke files out there still use the original F4 layout. In fact, I think the BMS developers have purposefully removed (or will remove) many of the “toggle” functions that existed in F4 to make the sim more realistic.
That said though, as the other poster’s have mentioned it might just be easier to find the equivalent functions in the 3D cockpit as they are all there now. For example, the selection of of the Radar mastermode and sub-modes that you mention on Page 4-3 are now accomplished by pressing various OSB buttons on the FCR page of the MFD. However, I agree with you that there is no one place that explains all of that and it is difficult for someone just starting out. You may want to consider joining one of the virtual squadrons and go through their training program.
NP. Its been a yonks since I flew the original F4 on release. I just naturally began at the beginning by hitting the manuals. I’m grateful for the profile and look forward to using it in all its glory one day very soon. I will take your advice and look for a VS… Tally Ho

RE: Morphine's Profile
The joystick functions listed in the BMS Manual are identical to the profile for the joystick. I’ve also included all of the realistic functions listed for the Throttle, it’s just that they are on different buttons or axes given the differences between the physical throttles.
You can also use the PS Keys utility from my web site to make a keyboard map. Also, you can cchange the keystroke assignments in the .key file to suit your purposes as well.
Yep I run PSKEYS thanks. I agree the profile is accurate to the BMS manual but its a pain to follow the TE training scenarios in the F4 manual now because the keys are in their correct positions. How for example do I select A-A master mode. Radar-A to A has “no key assigned” in the profile and I can’t reassign F1 as it’s now ‘Sim-EWS Program Int’ and mapped to its ‘natural’ joystick button. Think as a learner trying to follow the manual and you might see my problem. I really appreciate your hard work but not much fun battling the warthog profile and the sim cos the manual doesn’t make sense
e.g. Take Pg 4-3 in the manual using F1 and F8 to cycle radar master and submodes? Where are the equivalents on the warthog or keyfile?
Sorry if this is dumb or making no sense. -
RE: Morphine's Profile
With a fully-working 3D pit, you can now just click the relevant button to go to certain modes. Click the A-A button on the ICP = A-A master mode. Same for A-G. Click the OSB 19 or 20 on the left MFD (which hopefully shows the radar) and you can increase/decrease the scan range.
True but I’d really prefer to use HOTAS. Pgs 29-34 of the BMS manual are useful but obviously don’t refer directly to Morphine’s or the warthog profile. For new folks learning the sim it’s tricky to relate Ctrl-F5 (ACM Boresight) submode refered to in the manual to the HOTAS when in Morphines (& Dunc’s) more realistic keystroke is FLT CONTROL Lock LEFs. Could use a manual-to-HOTAS translation table I guess?

RE: Morphine's Profile
Hi
I have your profile and its working fine so a really big thanks. In the long run it’s looking good but I’m finding transitioning from the old F4 keyboard commands a bit fiddly while trying to learn the sim (and the warthog at the same time). It’s difficult for example to follow some of the basic TE lessons from the F4 manual when basic commands like A-A & A-G master modes don’t map to F1 and F2 anymore. Bore sight ACM must be mapped somewhere but the manual’s instructions just don’t make much sense at all when Ctrl F5 doesn’t work. Maybe these are purely ICP 3D pit presses now in BMS? Scouring the manuals to see if SP3 or BMS 2 changed something in the way master modes work hasn’t revealed much yet though. Another minor issue is that having labels disabled, which is clearly the purist and correct way to play, is a bit of a pain as they really help new folks learn their radar craft. If you have any advice on how to translate from keystrokes to your profile then I’d be really grateful.
Cheers
