My switches look rusty
-
Hi!
I have one year old Warthog HOTAS. It’s a one year old one but metal switches look like rusty.
They are not shiny anymore. Do you know if this is normal? Please give an advise to keep them shiny like brand new. -
I’d start with wiping off the spilled beer/pop/cool-aid,etc before it dries…
-
Don’t forget the cheetos…
I have ordered some flight gloves for the holidays.
-
WD40, shine 'em right up.
-
They need use…
-
Thanks guys. I will try all of your advices.
-
Seriously… I’ll throw out some serious advice…
Get some super fine steel wool… https://www.njsupply.com/mobile/8Pk-0000-Steel-Wool_p_103396.htmlGently rub your switches to remove existing rust, then apply a very fine coat of a general purpose lubricant… WD-40 should be fine.

Its actually not normal for them to show any signs of “rust” or tarnish of any kind unless you live on the coast with salt spray in the air on a regular basis.
What about the condition of other exposed metal parts, the aluminum rivets, around the ball joint of the Stick ???

Aluminum rust?

Aluminum rust?
It does oxidize. ( Your terminology is incorrect )
Even Stainless will “rust” under the wrong conditions.
The poster might have a throttle with “cheap switches”, I have heard that there has been a fall in quality control.

slightly to mine as well. I live near the ocean, its a miracle that your skin doesnt oxidize.
