BMS 4.33 will not save settings or "Setup" profile
-
Hi,
I cannot seem to find out why BMS 4.33 settings will not be saved. I will save the settings to recurit or something and then exit and it will work when I come back in, but if I go into a dogfight or mission, it will rewrite the settings back to veteran after leaving the dogfight or mission.
And by settings i mean the “Setup” Section.
Is this normal?
I never had this problem on any other BMS versions.
Please help.

Check files in the /config/ folder for read-only? Actually, is your BMS directory in one of the UAC protected windows directories like C:\Program Files?

I believe so yes why?

The permissions system of modern Windows (7+) won’t let programs write to protected directories because it’s not a per-user space but a global space. This is why all modern games put their save data in C:\users<user>\blah blah.
http://www.blackbaudknowhow.com/tech-tips/windows-7-user-account-control-uac-%E2%80%93-what-is-it.htmFalcon wasn’t made with the understanding of the separation of user data and program data. If you just installed BMS I suggest reinstalling to a different directory C:\Falcon BMS would be fine. If you don’t want to move it you can “run as admin” BMS which will elevate the program’s permissions or you can change the folder security options for the BMS folder to allow the non-admin program to write to it.</user>
