BMS 4.33 and 4.33 U1 not responding on startup
-
Just for the other thread where rtfm is the subject, I should answer here to Google it and read and learn all involved systems, or just post links of manuals from which if he read them would gain knowledge and find the solution by himself?
Just a same example as a mav’s q.

If you are referring to my post, thanks for the really helpful input! Frankly it takes me enough to work out how to fly without having to do Comp Sc. I assumed; maybe my bad; that this was a place to get help.

Use -window as a command in your BMS exe shortcut.
Not sure where"-window" can be added as a command in the shortcut. can’t see anywhere to do that in properties.

Right click on launcher shortcut, “Properties”, “shortcut” tab (second from the left), “Target” field :
"XXX\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Launcher.exe" -window

I’m talking about the other thread where we discuss about the many rtfm replies given.
The manuals are for sure in a way better state but still newbs are newbs. With my post I just wanted to resemble your request to a Falcon request. So we could answer you rtfm all your hardware and software manuals and Google it to find a solution to your problem and don’t bother us.
Maybe it’s a simplification but the principle is exactly the same.
So please don’t ask again, find the solution by your self. Just joking m8.

same problem here. only on 64 bit though, the launcher just closes.
What is your system‘s default input method,I ever had the same problem, but I solved this by replacing the default input method to English keyboard

Right click on launcher shortcut, “Properties”, “shortcut” tab (second from the left), “Target” field :
"XXX\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Launcher.exe" -window
This method is not effective.

I guess either no one else has this problem or no one knows the answer??
I ever have the same problem, now I have solved this problem, the default input method is the root cause of the problem

I can get it to start in a “window” both this way and through using the pit extraction profile settings. What I am trying to get is a full window the size of my screen and can’t drag it bigger AFIK.

OK the manual did mention adding -window and others but I can get it into a window anyway; the problem is to get it full screen. My video drivers are up to date ans as for re installing OS, I would rather avoid that as in spite of looking for days to find the OS dosc last used 4 years ago, I can’t find it. Could upgrade to win 10 but effects other progs too much at the moment. So I am looking for another solution if possible!

Please explain.

if u set the correct resolution in setup gfx settings it will be in full screen when you enter 3d. just place your ui window to the top left corner.
The UI is in 1024x768 and there is nothing you -we can do about it.

I think the advice was to re-install video drivers, not update. If all was working fine, then often updating video drivers is not a great idea anyway. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it as they say. I had a message from AMD last week telling me that new drivers were available. Against my better instinct I downloaded and tried to install them. I have an R9 380 and HD5450 in same PC and AMD installer then decides to tell me that the drivers are not suitable for 5450 and aborted the install. Not cleanly it seems as I then had all sorts of problems which i could only try fix with system restore. Result: 4.33 U1 which was running well now had CTD on every start so I needed to reinstall it. Moral of story is - it was not broke until I tried to ‘fix it’.
My point however is that your 4.33 was working and then not so something obviously changed. Could have been a Windows update (or perhaps failed update) that broke yours. My advice therefore:- System Restore to date just before problem started
- Uninstall and reinstall your ORIGINAL video drivers (select Uninstall from Graphics Card in Device Manager and reboot)
- Uninstall 4.33 U1 (using 4.33 U1 Setup NOT Windows uninstall)
- Make sure ‘Intro Movie’ is disabled
