Reinstalling Issue: "The registry entry…"
-
This post is deleted! -
Two things are clear:
1. Not everyone spend huge amounts of time on here, and therefore does not read all the posts, indeed it’s a waste of time. My registry was messed up because I didn’t read the necessary part of the necessary manual. And that’s because I didn’t know I needed to read it. Just like you’ve never read any instruction books for anything else… None of us know all the things we don’t know we don’t know. None of us have read the instruction we don’t know exists.
AND BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH TO READ ON BMS…
2. So therefore, the correct cleaner link that is in the middle of the thread, should be sticky at the top where Dunc has a link for 4.32 right at the top. Is it not reasonable to ignore all the chatter when a moderator if not one of the top moderators has posted something at the top?

Hi,
I had the same problem on a Win7 64 bit.
Using the search function of REGEDIT with “falcon bms 4.33”, I found and delete a “benchmark sims” folder in “HKey_local_machine\software\wow6432node”
After that, i was able to reinstall 4.33 without error message.
Hope it can help.Thank you. This was helpful as I, like bipcopter above, could not find the specified path in the registry. Learned how to do a search in registry (never done that before) and voila! Found it. Deleted it. Installed clean copy of U1. Don’t really spend time in registry files as I simply don’t like mucking about there…not a computer guru but know enough to understand you could screw things up deleting the wrong thing. Thanks again.

I had this issue also. The registry path that is specified is wrong. I had to do a search for “falcon” to find it. Everything is good to go for me and is working fantastic.

What OS you on??
You need to go into Regedit and delete the registry entry for Benchmark Sims.
You know how to do that??

Actually go here for 4.33u1/3 https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29456-Reinstall-Issue-quot-The-Registry-Issue-quot-U3&p=411137&viewfull=1#post411137

So does Dunc’s Clean_Public_BMS_4.32.zip on the first page no longer work for 4.33?
-
It is a different path in the registry for 4.33 and 4.33u1
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Benchmark Sims\Falcon BMS 4.32]
Now its
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Benchmark Sims\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1]
It all started here https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?10640-Reinstalling-Issue-quot-The-registry-entry-quot&p=346624&viewfull=1#post346624

Ah, thanks for that info. Never had to use this so wasn’t aware of that change

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have aged well beyond my years because of this.
-
I was simply able to recreate the folder on the old drive that it was on and it gave me the option of removing the program. Once I did this the program started as it should. Two days of screwing with this to finally get it to work.

Thank you
