Another noob in distress
-
Hello again everyone.
after a successful day yesterday I was looking forwards to moving to the next training package.
Turned the pc on this morning and program wont start.
the only change was a windows update yesterday
Any top tips?
I keep getting program not responding after about 5 seconds from running the program.
oh and I’m running mcafee antivirus.Oh and many thanks to those who created and run BMS…. love it !

Windows Version? 32bit or 64bit? What was the update?

Thinking about it. I’m sure its my pc.
It’s windows 10; 64bit and amd processor Radeon graphics card.
Forgive my rant … a very frustrating day hoping to get back in the air. -
U don’t know if u have Windows 10 installed on your system?

I’m guessing his PC went from Win10AE to Win10CU and that fk’ed up his system and BMS install.
I’d advise a clean wipe and re-install Falcon BMS. Or if you’re up to it, roll back to Win10AE.

Nothing wrong with CU, I can run Falcon just fine. I’d wager to guess there was a hardware driver that got updated, which is why I asked what the update was.

It’s fine for some, it isn’t for others. If it is CU that fk’ed up his system, might as well re-install Falcon and see if it works…. if not, then roll back to “last known good configuration” which is Win10AE.

That might work, but it’s a bit of treating the symptoms and not the root cause. He’d never be able to apply another MS update, and he’d have to disable automatic updates to make sure something didn’t get changed in the future. Not very good practice–and very insecure from an IT perspective. Would be better to figure what specifically changed and treat the underlying issue. CU has a lot of updated Microsoft Generic drivers built in to the system, so if it was the CU, it’s probably just a driver issue. Wasted time and effort and certainly overkill to re-install or roll-back for a simple driver issue.

Well, short of getting the OP on the phone as his personal tech support or making him answer loads of questions…. might as well get him to do something that may work and get him back up and running.
As for MS update, I never said abstain from CU forever and ever and ever. IME, CU is still suffering teething pains and might be a good idea to “stick with what works” for a couple of months longer. Same reason you don’t jump on a new OS straight away… unless you’ve got loads of free time and trouble-shooting “why this program no longer works when it was fine before” is your definition of a fun afternoon….

Thanks for the help guys.
I deleted and re installed and it worked fine. Though without the u2/3 patches yet.
Sadly ran out of time to fly…. maybe next week
