Installing Falcon 4.0 issue
-
Hi everyone
Just installed a new SSD drive, and because of that, i need to reinstall BMS from the beginning. Have installed BMS many times, with no problems, but now i can’t install my original Falcon 4.0 from Micro Prose to my HDD. The DVD reader works, i have just copied the original disc to my HDD, just to see if it could read the files on the Cd, no problem there. Also tried to install from HDD. with no luck, nothing happens. When i put the Cd. into the DVD reader, it’s ask me what to do, and i select autorun, like i normal do, DVD drive spins up, but nothing happens.
I dont know if this make any sense to you, but hope you can help.Best Regards
TorbenEdit: Problem solved.
The setup was stuck in a wait chain. Found this in the task manager under details, ended this and the installation process continued. The process i ended, had something to do with Logitech_…… can’t remember exact, didn’t think it worked. Can not reproduce. -
Not sure if it’s the same, since you said you can copy files from the CD, but in my case, my PC’s DVD drive can sometimes see the F4.0 CD, sometimes it doesn’t, but either way, it won’t install from CD. I thought that was it, my CD must be broken or has degraded over time…. until I tried it on my laptop which read and installed from the CD with no problem. The laptop has a permanent smirk on it’s face now, to the annoyance of the sim PC, so I had to take out the DVD drive from the sim PC to restore order in the game room

Just spent the last hour pulling my hair out. Did what schrøder did by copy and pasting it to HD from CD. Changed all exe files to Win XP compatible and Admin, still no luck. Then discovered this thread and by god it worked
Under Details in Task manager, look up ISDel.exe and right click on it. Look at ‘Analyze wait chain’. In there there is a list of 1 called Logitech discord. Click the box next to it which will light up the End process box. Click on that then you will find your DVD start humming and it will install Falcon 4.
What a polava!
