Reinstalling 4.33U1
-
Nope. I must confess, I had 4.33U1 installed and it worked fine. Then I tried to add the incremental updates and somehow I screwed it up so I deleted all folders. I now know this is NOT the proper way to remove. I’m sure this mistake has got to have something to do with the problem.

What OS you have?

Windows 10.

Do you know how to go into the registry via regedit??
If so, you can go in there and see if there is still a registry entry for Benchmark Sims and delete it manually if there is.
If that’s the problem?

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

No joy. Found the BMS file and deleted, restarted computer then downloaded clean U1 and tried to install. Same result - it allows me to Accept license agreement then nothing happens. I also noticed in the registry the Microprose Falcon 4.0 folder. Would that also need to be deleted?
-
No, the Falcon 4.0 is a requirement.
I don’t know, but maybe you should try deleting Falcon 4.0, possibly it’s corrupt?? And reinstall it.
You can do it through Control Panels>Programs>Uninstall Program.
You’ve tried everything else!!

I’m at a loss. I even tried running the Clean_Public_BMS_4.33 U1 zip from your post last year.

Yes, just downloaded clean U1 from Torrent and attempted to install just that one. Same result - nothing.

I dragged the setup folder out of the zip file and onto the desktop.

Sure. Here they are. Thanks very much for your time.
Looks OK but does get a bit confusing with the extra RD Falcon folder, simpler if the Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 Setup/ is in the root of a partition.
I run my updates manually so it doesn’t mater where they are. As long as I know where the setup folder is.
And If you don’t uninstall correctly have a look HERE.

You need to check in your data folder and make sure everything is there. IIRC the unzip process does more than simply decompress in this case. Unzip it old school style and let the zip pricess run all the way through,
Obviously you won’t have the Update2,3,4 etc stuff in a basic install.
Its OK Morte, same effect, Windows handles ZIP Files correctly.

Well, this morning I fired it up and everything installed as advertised. I can’t say definitively where the problem was but cleaning the registry, reinstall of a ‘fresh’ U1 and a long reboot must have done the trick. Morale of the story - if deleting the program is necessary, do it as prescribed. Thank you Gents for all your help!
-
Most likely the registry!
Glad you got it running AGAIN!!

Your Welcome.
