Bms launches in low resolution (not menu)

Hey guys, I’m sitting here staring at a forced update from Microsoft literally about to have a nervous breakdown due to the arrogance of Microsoft. In the past 2 years, I’ve installed/reinstalled Windows a half dozen times, switched to Win 7, then was forced back to Win 10 because of a CPU upgrade. I’ve been happily running version 1511 of Win 10 that I had on a thumbdrive. I gave up on the Win10 creators updates and BS “improvements” that constantly break something, if not my Falcon install, something else breaks with my controllers or drivers. I do not do any kind of financial work, banking, etc, on my gaming/flight sim rig. I DO NOT CARE about the feature updates. I run Norton Firewall. I rarely even go online with my gaming rig as I usually play single player games. If someone was actually able to surreptitiously take over my gaming rig and use it for some nefarious purpose or mining I would be very impressed to say the least. I notice it when I drop a few frames in frame rate.
Which leads me to my actual question. Does this unchecking the box fix make everything “normal” again? i.e. performance AND resolution wise? Microsoft now claims than any version of Win 10 before 1703 is at “end of life”. I’ve had issues before with Nvidia driver updates and having to tweek my settings in Nvidia Inspector after loss of frame rates. I love Falcon but sometimes it seems like I spend more time with troubleshooting than flying.
Microsoft is making it really difficult for developers like BMS with Windows “as a service”. I’ve been able to fend off updates with the usual tricks like metered connection, etc. but now they are forcing updates on everybody even Win10 Pro with deferred updates. The first thing I did was check this forum when I saw the pop up from Microsoft on my desktop and surprise surprise the 1803 update breaks Falcon. Mind you I have no issues with necessary security updates but we all know that this is not what this is about. I may be hyperbolic but Microsoft is trying to copy Apple’s model with MacOS, Itunes, App store etc. and if we are not careful as consumers we won’t be able to game, watch a movie, or buy and run software on homebuilt computers without going through the Windows store or whatever it’s called. They want a piece of all that money Apple and Steam are making. I’m still hoping some brilliant developer comes up with a way to emulate Win10 in Linux to provide a stable platform for gaming and then we can all tell Microsoft to go jump off a bridge. Sorry about the rant but the thread seemed appropriate.
Again, this fixes resolution and frame rate issues? Have you guys noticed any other performance issues, settings changes?

Clio16v…I ve been trying to figure this out for hours…This worked great… Looks amazing now in 4k. I know its an old post but Kudos

I have the same problem as falcon does, can’t access to further actions “OK”, “COMMIT” or “FLY”. They become non-clickable.
I had my old OS which there was update 1709 but now it’s no more. (re-install WIN10)
so currently my only solution is to set the game under window mode and try to ignore the white part on the top.––

White part on the top?
Maybe use borderless option in window mode?Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Yes I mean the frame of the window.
I never use multi-monitors so I didn’t know it could be set in the launcher.
Thanks, Arty! You just gave me the great tips! -
Anyone that has tried the previously mentioned workarounds and are still having trouble, try running BMS in compatibility mode for Windows 7. That’s how I got it to work.
-
worked for me so far.

This trick really works. Great thanks:clap2:
This trick worked for me but the issue is DTC button and some others become frozen (unclickable), I can’t change anything in DTC before flight. Worked around and found that check another box to run BMS in compatible mode for window 7 will solve the issue. Check your DTC button before the flight and see if it is still clickable!

Same problem here. Think i found a solution. Try this. Right click Falcon BMS sortcut, select properties, then compatibility tab and then check Disable full screen optimizations. Then click OK and run Falcon BMS. Let me know if this worked for you.
Very very thank´s

I’m just gonna leave this here: I had a similar problem where my monitors native resolution was not even in the list of selectable resolutions in the graphics tab and the game chose the next lower resolution. This happened from one day to the other. Turns out it was the video driver which “forgot/lost” the correct mode. For some odd reason I was running at my native resolution but a slightly lower refresh rate. After I added my native resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate it was selectable again.

All working fine for me, 2560x1440 looking good. No extra option used, full screen optimalization is enabled. Strange. I’m not sure about global settings.
Map and tactical references library views are low resolutions (1024x768) no matter what. It can be solved only by mods I belive. Korea HD 3.0 mod, but I haven’t try it yet. Can someone confirm and advice on HD mods?

No mod or theater can change the resolution of UI.
This needs code and design.
Try to use desktop zoom functionality of win 10 for the UI.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

Worked for me, but still cant get windowed mode to work properly. I added -window to the icon proerties, but the window is unmoveable and not centered on the screen. very frustrating.

In the manual says how.
