Yet Another T.16000M FCS HOTAS Review and Setup
-
I had the following with regards to the devicesorting file;
1. delete the entire file and let BMS recreate it
2. gone into the file and ensure t16000M is the 1st device follow by TM Virtual controller as the 2nd device
3. delete the line containing TWCS throttlethe funny thing is TWCS throttle always keep reappearing (as the last device though).
BTW I do not run teamspeak.

That means TARGET script is not running (well) when you start BMS.
Otherwise BMS shouldnt ever see “TWCS throttle”.
Check with Windows USB controllers settings. -
I also was having problems with the order in which the device sorting.txt was putting them in. It would put the throttle first every time. But I found out that the problem I had was, that if you use the BMS alternative launcher. It will switch it over back the the throttle. After launch bms manualy. I went to settings, the default was on keyboard and switching to the joystick and loading my profile or the logic.key seems to be working as intended. Thought I post this for anyone else who was about 2 pull out there hair, like me.

Update….
When I ran Logic’s script everything turns out ok. Then when i ran my script, it also ran ok! Check windows games controller and TWC throttle did not appear.
However, there’s a few instances where my script doesn’t work & the same problem reappear. What i do would then is to run Logic’s script, follow by my script and it would be back to normal.
I would then launch BMS. Stick & throttle work ok. After quitting BMS, i would check the devicesorting.txt and guess what?! TWCS throttle is in the devicesorting.txt file as the last device!
I can’t really figure out where my mistake lies in.

Hi,
Had tried this method many times but it didn’t work for me

Hi all,
I am starting in the world of Falcon BMS.
With the configurations provided in this thread, how can I change the buttons mapping. For example, I want that the function to look around be on the buttons POV0 POV1 … ?
Thanks,

Hi, Just a heads up, DeviceSorting.txt is not in the updated V2 of the configuration. Please check!

That file is specific to your computer and not generic.
Go to your user folder / config and you will find it there.
Then inside that file sort your directx devices in the order you want them. -
Oh man!
Thanks, Logic! You spared me hours and hours of trial and error and provided me with a cool and working setup for the Thrustmaster HOTAS
You rock!
Thank you!

How did you get the throttle to work witht he stick? I can only have 1 device active at the same time. And I can’t figure out how to use both.
-
Welcome cookie. In the setup screen, your stick should be the primary, go to the advanced tab and you can set your throttle under one of the tabs. If you use discord, follow the link in my Sig. Many folks there to help you get flying in no time. Good luck!!

Thanks for pointing it out. I updated the first post with a newer version including DeviceSorting.txt.

That file is specific to your computer and not generic.
It actually IS generic! It contains an identifier that is provided directly from the hardware. Every T.16000M will have the same id.
I included it in latest version in first post. -

I included it in latest version in first post.Well I said this because the devices listed are specific to the computer and user. Not everyone has the same hardware.
Then concerning the device ID, it does change sometimes from the manufacturer when a product is updated, even if there is no product ref change. So, it is the same in most cases, but manufacturers can change it. -
v3.1: Fixed a wrong key assignment:
SimRadarRangeStepDown 48 -1 -2 0 0X0 0 “SHORT: Radar Range Down” -
Questions about your setup, I noticed you have toggle-jammer as a separate key from the countermeasure hat, isn’t that a bit unneeded because CMS down and CMS right I believe also handles ECM?
Also I read it’s possible to setup TARGET so you can have overrides as just one key, with a short press to enter Dogfight Override (And thus queue up a sidewinder) or a long press for MRM (Basically enter Dogfight but with an AMRAAM instead.) with a second press to disable the overrides. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?31565-Basic-tips-to-get-the-T16000M-FCS-hotas-working-in-BMS&highlight=t16000m+override mentioned in this post. Seems like another good way to free up button real-estate while still having it intuitive. (Wanna lock up a sidewinder? Short press. Want some more range with the AIM-120? Hold it down a bit longer. Want to cancel? Press it again.)
Just checking in so I can free up more button real-estate, I might modify your setup so I can have pickle as the button below the hat on the front of the stick, and perhaps move first trigger detent to one of the base-stick buttons.
I plan to get the stick as an upgrade to my 3d pro and maybe some trackIR too. Do you like the T16000M? Do you feel like it meets your needs in BMS and you’re not button-strapped?
Only other things I can see “missing” in your setup is the mic keys for MP and the radio keys for talking to the AI (Although you have AWACS Declare as a base button.)

Hey Toybasher,
Those are all excellent points you mention here.
Short answer to most things: This setup is basically still work in progress and evolves as my needs and progress in the game evolve.
Currently, I’m playing the game with head tracking, but without voice comms.
(I do play network with someone else, but we use Teamspeak voice activation)
So this reflects in the setup.
And I consider myself still a beginner sort of.
I’m sure other people will find setups better suited to their needs.
The TARGET thing you mention sounds very interesting, i might have a look into those more advanced programming stuff when i find the time.Concerning the T16000M overall, i’m still happy with it after more than a year after purchase (with pauses).
Together with the TWCS throttle it fits my needs perfectly, (enough buttons to hold the important stuff, yet not too much to get confused) but then again, i’m just a casual intermittent simmer. -
Thinking about it, maybe we could find a configuration that fits most people, with room for individual tweaking nevertheless.
So just out of curiosity, what would you and others consider vital bindings that aren’t on the current one (v3.1)?Questions i had myself:
When do you guys use Radar Cursor Enable? I dont remembr using that ever. I could put Radar Cursor Zero (which i use more often) on that slot instead.
What key commands are used for standard multiplayer voice comms? -

What key commands are used for standard multiplayer voice comms?Note I am a massive nugget and know very little about BMS (I’m waiting to save funds for a T16000 and TrackIR and possibly have to move my desk or get a new one to make room for such, mine’s a rather crappy desk/bookcase thing with my monitor on a stand-thing built in diagonally to the left) but it does have something called IVC which either came with Falcon 4 or was added in BMS, and is a built-in voice chat client of sorts which works ingame. I.E. radio needs to be set to the right frequency, radio degradation modeled etc.
Are the “View Up/Down/Left/Right/” keys just to move your POV and not targeting pod or anything else? If so, with trackIR I might set them (I believe shifted castlehat?) to the COMMS switch up, down, left and right, up and down are used for talking on UHF and VHF, and left and right are used for datalink related stuff.
EDIT: That leaves the radio menus but there’s ways around it I believe such as Voice Attack, so I can just shout “AWACS! REQUEST BOGEY DOPE!” or “Tower, requesting landing.” or “Tanker, done refueling.” whatever and have VA automatically send the needed keypresses. Frees up my hands although my PC is in the living room and people might get irritated hearing some maniac yelling at his PC.
EDIT 2: The game has built in profiles in keybindings folder or whatever for VAC (Voice Activated Commands) which is a different program than Voice Attack, so you’re pretty much all set there. Again I am a bit of a button lover so I try to free up buttons. On a side note for First Trigger Detent (Manual Lasing) do you have to hold the button down or just push it once to toggle the laser?
EDIT 3: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?18261-KEYSPEECH-PROFILES-FOR-ALL-CALLSIGNS!!! another example of a set for voice commands, (keyspeech program) I like having many phrases for each call because if you’re in a hurry you don’t have to worry about phrasing. AWACS request homeplate can be activated with just “AWACS where is my base” or “AWACS vector for RTB” etc.

Updated (v4).
Now with implenetations for “long press” as suggested in https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?31565-Basic-tips-to-get-the-T16000M-FCS-hotas-working-in-BMS. See first post for details.
Since there are various ways and matter of taste to to handle voice comms, i still left comm management out.
Adapt to your needs!
