Falcon BMS 4.34 Setup Installation takes forever
-
Hi!
I’m trying to install BMS 4.34 but it freezes at the installation process. It freezes and nothing happens. The exact step where it freezes is attached. Any help is appreciated

Is there a small window behind asking if you will allow BMS to change your files ?

I will check when i get home

Just Checked. Nope. It straight up freezes there. Can’t seem to find a solution

You should post your system specs. CPU, Motherboard,Memory type/size/configuration, OS.
Has the inside’s ever been cleaned ?
Are there any crash logs ?
Did a previous version run ok ?
You need to give us a clue.

I run on a i5 3470, 16gb DDR3 ram 1600mhz, GTX1060 6G, all on maximus 5 formula MB. I’ve been cleaning it regularly for dust. Also I clear junk files and such every day. Been running 4.32 before and currently running 4.33. There are no crash logs or such as I am unable to install 4.34. Running 4.33 fine.
I really don’t know what is wrong with it

I don’t think you can have 33 where 34 can see it

? See each other?? They have!! They each have unique paths!
They coexist together just fine. Separate registry entries!

Have you extracted the files to a saved location , your not installing straight from the zip file ?
Windows event log ?
Have you given it an extend amount of time ? Some have reported it seaming to hang. I think it might have been long pause for me too.
Overclocked ?
I’m clutching at straws now.

I have the zip extracted in a specific folder on my desktop (this file only contains the zip and its insides). I run the setup as admin, proceed through the setup to the point where it actually instals the BMS. At this point the setup window only says that it is installing some DirectX stuff but it stops there, I’ve given it 24 hours but it didn’t move an inch. The installation bar is completely empty. Also the setup window doesn’t respond to anything at that point.
I don’t know what is a windows event log, if there is somewhere i can find it please tell me I will be more than happy to find and attach it
I run my 3470 at 3.8ghz (it is not a K processor but this is possible and the CPU is stable)

First point is you say " (this file only contains the zip and its insides)" if it is extracted there should be NO zip file and look like this……

Second point is if your OCing a i5-3470 then your using the FSB to achieve 3.8GHz however you are allso OCing the memory subsystem. Which is OK generally however when installing Operating Systems and/or many Apps it can be most troublesome and not recommended. I still have a 3570k and have been Overclocking for 30 years.

Thanks for the fast reply Shadow. Removing the zip from the desktop file solved the problem. As for the OC issue i will definitely look into that.
Thanks!

Yep just be aware of Mem timings and multiplier. I have had problems when installing Windows while OverClocked. ANd Falcon is a great stability tester.
3.8 Gig is what I was running the 3570k at for a year or more then @ 4.0 as the silicon matured.
Happy Hunting……
