Voice Attack alternative speech engines
-
Hi guys,
for all you non-english OS users out there: Voice Attack now supports the MS speech sdk which will allow non w10-Users (and who’d want that anyway :)) to use alternative speech recognition engines for other languages (for instance I’m still using a german win7 install, but using these packages I can now talk to Voice Attack in “proper” english without having to resort to extensive recognition training or exclusion of similar german words).
The Voice Attack website has the details here:
http://voiceattack.com/alternate.aspx
Installation is a bit involved in win7 as nothing apparently happens when you double click those MSI packages, but checking “software & features” you’ll see them listed.
Following the installation & a reboot simply tell Voice Attack to use the alternate engine and things should work nicely from there.
I have no idea how long this feature has been a part of Voice Attack, but I only discovered it yesterday if you can believe it
I hope you find this useful & all the best,
Uwe

Nice!
Hoover, did you figure it out how to prepare commands profile faster than typing and clicking them one by one? -
I was yesterday researching the same page, as Va does not recognize my voice commands regardless of how many times I went through the training before, it simply shows too noisy, or unrecognized… Frustration is what I feel , and i do not use it.
I was trying to set it for elite dangerous and also arma3… I will try that what you show here.
Also the hotkeys for activate the listen feature does not work at all, If I want VA to listen, I have to leave it activated thorugh a mouse click.

Nice!
Hoover, did you figure it out how to prepare commands profile faster than typing and clicking them one by one?Sorry for the late reply. For me the alternate speech engines have been a bit hit and miss recently: either it works great or not at all
I’m suspecting a problem with my mic setup, but I haven’t had time to look deeper into the issue.
As for profiles, I’m using ready-profiles I found here on the forum and (sometimes) augment them with my own commands.
All the best, Uwe

Hoover, did you figure it out how to prepare commands profile faster than typing and clicking them one by one?I have - I pretty much wrote one command, and copied it for every radio menu command (with minor variations) in my public profile. First command structure was one-by-one, line by line, but then it’s pretty much a copy-paste job for a few hundred commands that reads a single table like a config file. VA commands can be a pain to make, but if you do it right or download a good working profile, it’s a mostly painless voice control program.
My profile shows an advanced example of a Push To Talk system for using hotkeys to activate the listening feature for the profile only, rather than the entire VA program (so you can have master profiles for windows functions, etc.)
Feel free to check it out, had not wanted to make a full post here until I get it out of this final beta, and then ran into a little snag with my website download section that has postponed full release - should be out soon and will make post here. This is a profile example which controls only the in-game Radio Menus with a focus on immersion & freedom of speech for ways to call the commands (in English), but would love to work with other languages. All things said BY the profile are in one “config” like command. Would love some international feedback regarding recognition or use with alternate speech engines:
