RWS - Dual Target Situation Awareness sub mode video
-
Hello!
I made this video trying to get a better understanding of the RWS DT SAM radar sub mode. :plane:
Enjoy!

Isn’t this the wrong name for the mode? I thought the official name is “Two Target SAM (TTS).”
It’s really cool to see the dynamic free scan volume as the targets and free volume separate.

Hi,
I found this topic very interesting and thought that I would have a closer look. In the past I have generally used RWS SAM mode on initial contact with the enemy and then cycled to TWS mode to actually engage. I was unaware of the RWS DT SAM mode, so I thought that I would give it a shot and found the following:-
1. I find it very difficult to consistently transition from RWS SAM to DT SAM. I TMS up on my selected target, but more often than not, the cursor remains locked on the initial designated target and cannot be moved to the secondary. I have tried close and distant targets to use this mode. It occasionally does work however, so I’m unsure if its something that I’m doing or not doing.
2. However, I can make it work consistently by going into TWS mode, designating a target, moving the cursor away from that target and then cycing back to RWS. This seems to force the FCR into RWS DT SAM mode. This seems a little pointless as I fail to see the advantage of DT SAM over TWS, but I may be wrong.
3. The part about the Spotlight mode was very interesting and effective in practice.
I have been flying this sim off and on since the very beginning and BMS since 4.32. Its hidden depths never fail to amaze me and the fact that there is always another hill to climb, another skill to master, fills me with gratitude. Huge thanks to those of you who make it all possible!
Regards

I think it depends what block you are flying.
