Setting up Helios in Falcon BMS Without Touch Screen
-
Hi all,
After running into a dead end with my MFDE and making several posts, I want to set up Helios for display of the guages only, since I have no touch screen. I want to do it from scratch without using someone else’s profile. I can’t find any one article that addresses what I want to do.So far I have Helios installed, set the interface and have drug the guages available from the toolbox to my monitor position. The guages show up, but don’t work when i run the program.
I’m guessing I missed a step somewhere. Any clues? At some point I will try to add YAME, since Helios has no DED and or AOA with the circle indicator.

1. Helios has a DED as Well as AOA indicator.
2. Helios is different programms such as MFDE as the gauges need to be connected to BMS input.
I highly recommend to use an existing working profile and inspect how a working gauge is setup build

Ah yes,
I think I know what to do with the profiles. I report back later.
Thanks much. -
I need a small profile, simple with just a few guages. I downloaded Ice’s but it is so huge, it’s unusable for me. I made a post in the joystick\touchscreen section

Ok, since I’m not using a touch screen, I’ll continue with this thread here instead of using one in the “Touch Screen Section”, even though it involves Helios.
Can anyone point me towards a video/tutorial that shows how to add (1) guage to a Falcon BMS Profile and make it work correctly? Right now it’s the basic HSI, but the principle should be the same.
Doing the copy/paste routine using someone else’s profile works great most of the time, but for someone new to Helios, some guages are too complex to make them adjustable and usable. I’m guessing that nobody ever thought of using Helios in a Non-touch screen situation, but for someone who does not have touch screens, Helios is also a perfect solution for displaying guages. Any direction on this is appreciated.

First f all the copy past has nothing to do if you are using Helios on a touchmonitor or not. Helios doesn’t require a touchscreen at all.
If you are copy pasting from an existing profile into a new empty one you have to make sure that you have added the BMS interface to your new profile first. Otherwise the copy past can’t take over the the needed input stuff.
Watch the part add Flacon BMS interface of my tutorial starting at 54:40
More indepth on the Falcon interface in BMS

Yep, I saw all of the tutorials, all very good, but they seemed like they were for adding buttons, switches, etc… Since none of my monitors are touch screen, I don’t want any buttons or switches. I just want to add some guages from the toolbox and resize them to what I want. The first thing I did was add the Falcon Interface to my new empty profile and added a couple guages, but they didn’t work.
My sole question is, is there another step to make the guages work? I couldn’t find a word about it anywhere.
I was able to separate out the bezels from Ice’s guages and resize them, but spent hours trying to get the HSI resized, so I would rather just add a new one from the toolbox and be done with it.

If you are doing a profile from the scratch for gauges you have to connect the gauge to the proper input from the falcon interface
That’s why I said I might be easier to copy gauges from a working profile cause if you have setup the Falcon interface in your new profile and copy one from a existing one the input vounds are copied over.
If you start from scratch and take a gauge out of the Helios Toolbox as shown in the image above you have to make the input binding yourselfHSI is even more complex

I think your issue with resizing is the understandanding of how resizing works in Helios.
If you copy over a panel and want to resize it select the top most pane and drag and drop with Shift hold down on your keyboard as this resize the panel and all elements inside the panel porportional.
BTW would have been covered in my basic tutorial and has again nothing to do with touch or not or if the panel contains switches or a gaugeDrag to resize vs Shift drag to resize

Excellent. Thanks Much Oakdesign.
