Solved Falcon freezes when exiting any kind of mission.
-
Good evening, Gentlemen.
Could seem a revamping of a old topic, this, but please be assured it’s not.
Just since today, any time I try to exit a mission, no matter what kind (training, custom, campaign), Falcon freezes on that screen and left me any other chance than ending it manually.
No Windows updates nor hardware/software occurred, the sim ran flawlessy until this afternoon. Uninstalling and reinstalling after cleaning all the registry entries didn’t work either.Mybe it is really more simple that that, butI ran out of ideas at this point here… any suggestion, please?
Thanks a lot for your attention, and with best regards.

@Jackal yes I’m 4k also (3840 x 2160) with Windows desktop at 150% dpi.
(But I still haven’t tested if these font sizes scale with dpi, or not.)
@airtex2019
No! Don’t tell me that! Just the same as mine ones, can’t be possible… but I had no effect after hitting that combo in return.
And I’m sure that I did all well, this time at least.
I will give this a pair of tries more anyway.Thanks a lot for all, and with this last tip for me this case may be considered definitively closed.
With best regards.

@Jackal hi, get us a full DMP when it happens. Check this thread https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/20866/enabling-dump-files-at-all-times-and-creating-frozen-game-dump-files

@Seifer You are right. I forgot that, my apologies and it won’t happen anymore.
But here is the (good) news: I happen to get that after I changed the fonts’ size to enhance the radio messages’ visibility in the cockpit, modifying the “menu.dat” and “OtwFonts.dat” files both in the Art/CkpArt folder just the same way I read it was possible in a post some time ago (but with the 4.35).
I decided to do that just my poor eyes’ sake because unsatisfied by a low, and not 4K, screen resolution choice.
Falcon didn’t like this initiative at all, so after I reinstalled the stock ones the sim decided to forgive me this time.Sorry for bothering, then.
But my question remains hanging still, I’m afraid: what should I do to accomplish my needs, if possible of course?With best regards.

@Jackal Have you tried the new
g_bWindowedRadioSubtitles
feature?Assuming your Windows desktop is set to high DPI (eg. 150% for a 4k monitor is typical) … I think these new overlay windows also scale, accordingly. (not sure I haven’t verified that)

Here who you are, bro… a very useful hint presto (in Italian as in English)!
And you have guessed it right, I’m using a very high 4K resolution.
I didn’t know anything about this, but I will add this to my own user cfg file and I will let you know further.Thanks a lot and with best regards.

@airtex2019 Well… or “not so well”, actually. I put it with the usual syntax “set (etc.)” in the BMS user cfg file, but it didn’t worked - unless I haven’t understood how to write or use this command. Oh, guess what I comment: you and I tried to do something, at least. If you could find another solution, please let me know.
@Seifer that principal issue of mine has been solved, so the case can be closed, if you are pleased to. Thanks a lot for all to you too.
With best regards to all.

@Jackal
set g_bWindowedRadioSubtitles 1
Then in flight, you can use [alt+C][W] combo to hide/show the overlay window with the most recent radio text.
This is what it looks like on my 4k screen.

@airtex2019
Good to be learned.
I will test this one too, and let’s see if it’s fit to my poor eye’s needs.
Just for my curiosity only: what resolution have you set on your installation, please?
I’d like to get 3840 x 2160, 4K on mine.Thanks a lot for your attention, bro, and with best regards.
