How to lock alternative launcher settings for game (4.37)?
-
Thanks Airtex,
Your proposed option 2 is a bit convoluted for me. I may try pending other solutions first but it is challenging my limited oldman tech skills.
The key issue is that the settings in game are mixing up the throttle and joy stick buttons.
For instance when pressing the firing trigger it reads button 34 instead of button 0 or 1.
This most likely because the AL keeps putting the throttle first.
I could try reinstalling but if others with the TM1600 are having the same problem it may be a bug.I have tried switching device priorities in game from stick to throttle and while its solves some problems it creates new ones as there is synchronization of key binds and button selections.

Hi CheckPoint,
I have tried both options. Read my last post to Airtex. The problem is that the AL sets my throttle first. In game this mixes up the button order. I have tried putting the throttle first in game but that causes me to loose the x and y axis on the joystick.

@Tobruk
For now I think the best way it to follow @airtex2019 airtex2019 advice : @airtex2019 said in@Tobruk So, options and next steps …
- delete (make a backup copy somewhere) all of DeviceSorting.txt, BMS-Auto.key, AxisMapping.dat, Joystick.cal, and the various Setup.v100*.xml files … and start fresh.
That means re-starting settings from sratch.
Important, choose one of the 2 options : do the settings in Alternate Laucher or in BMS Setup, but not both. That won’t work and you will be lost in understanding the modifications you are doing. -
You got that right lol.

The sequence of devices (throttle first, then stick) would likely be a Windows decision. How about swapping their USB-ports and see how Windows orders them? Or one device in the front panel, one on the back and so on. If you can force Windows to order them as you’d like, run the launcher and it should work.
At that point you should write-protect the DeviceSorting.txt, then you should be able to cable manage the devices any way you prefer

@jayb great suggestion. I put the joystick up front (usb) and the throttle to the back and the AL put the joystick in priority.
I still have to verify if the game recognizes the throttle button settings.
-
After changing the plug in order for stick and throttle, the AL settings seem to work. Except the rudder always reverts to keyboard. I have to reset in game to stick twist each time.
-
@Tobruk rudder axis no worky? seriously?
does yours look like this? share a screen snip…
-
@airtex2019 Yes, it looks like that exactly, but still defaults in game to keyboard. I then set manually and save and it works but it is a rinse repeat process every time I start the game.
But it loads like this:

@airtex2019 Duh! I didn’t read the fine print…that’s for lawyers.
Thanks again.

Well it was too good to be true. I thought I finally had the Joystick mapping licked.
It did appear to work for a couple of sessions, but tonight the game decided that it did not like any of my AL key settings for the throttle.
I checked the Bms User Config and it listed 32 buttons and 256 with pink.
Is that correct? My stick has 32 x2 alone?
I manual changed the file to 64 and 128 (pinky) but that had no impact… -
@Tobruk I’m very sorry I may have given you conflicting advice. If so, apologies. I’ve been trying to help a lot of different folks and I can’t keep everyone straight.
You definitely can NOT have things like 32-buttons-per-device and 256-shift-range, in your ‘falcon bms user.cfg’ file, and make use of the new launcher.
Taking it from the top… there are 2 different paths. They are fundamentally incompatible with one another. You’ll have to choose one or the other.
Option A) to use a hand-crafted key file, like Orffen’s download… that will need ‘falcon bms user.cfg’ set to 32-buttons and 256-shift… and also require you to hand-manage the DeviceSorting.txt to put stick first, throttle second.
then, avoid the new launcher or always take care to check the “don’t apply overrides” box.
Option B) use the new Launcher … it may or may not recognize your stick and throttle and supply good defaults. but it will set 128-button numbering, and some appropriate dx-shift value, in the ‘falcon bms.cfg’ file

@airtex2019
No worries Airtex, This is what I have tried thus far. From the outset I downloaded Offren’s key map and installed manual in 2d.
The result, much like every thing I have tried, was a mix of some keybind recognition and others not. You provided me with some config command to put in place. Perhaps we should review these.set g_nButtonsPerDevice 32 (i have played with these two settings since)
set g_nHotasPinkyShiftMagnitude 256set g_nNumOfPOVs 2
set g_nPOV1DeviceID 2
set g_nPOV1ID 0
set g_nPOV2DeviceID 3
set g_nPOV2ID 0My next attempt was to replicate all Offren’s setting using the AL. This worked with limit success until I ran into the devicesort issue. Changing the USB socket location appears to have fixed this and the game settings worked for a one play session. And then the game decided not to recognize my throttle keybinds.
It seems to me the game has trouble handling more than 1 device at a time. When the throttle was priority in devicesorter, the game recognized those keybinds, when it was switched it back to the stick.

Ok I deleted everything in my BMS user config file.
I plugged my devices in and started the game. Everything seems to work.
I exited the game and check the BMS user config file. It is still blank. Is that okay?
Fired up the game again, all seems to be good. Keeping my fingers crossed.
