Hide the Virtual Pilot in the Cockpit
-
I have flown sims and real aircraft for 4 decades so I am not a newbee. I use TrackIR for head tracking. I have a personal issue with the pilot legs blocking the view of many switches especially the seat arming switch.
The TrackIR sensor does not have enough range to see down and around the left leg to get to the set arm switch.
I have read the older posts on this topic but the ALT C and then P does not work in 4.37. P pauses the sim.
I may have missed something but do not see a binding to toggle the pilot. Once up and running with the seat armed the pilot is not in the way.
Is there a key combination to toggle the virtual pilot? If not, I will use the keyboard for the seat arm.
I own and flew the original Microprose Falcon 4.0 many years and still have and refer to the hard copy doco at times. Your work on the evolution of this sim is nothing short of amazing. I also fly DCS, P3D, and MSFS 2020.
Thanks

L ALT+ C : P
It means L ALT+C little pause (0,5 sec.) and pulse P
Its functional in 4.37.1
Or also can deactivate de pilot 3d model in OPTIONS
You can activate the ejection seat whith care holding the cursor on the zone, even above your virtual leg.

@Machtoo works fine for me. [alt+C][P] is the default key binding.
there’s also a little green checkbox on the Setup/Graphics page, if you want him off by default
SimPilotToggle -1 0 0x19 0 0x2E 4 1 "SIM: Toggle Pilot Model"
I may have missed something but do not see a binding to toggle the pilot.
some BMS command callbacks have obscure, unintuitive names or text labels… but not this one! if you’re not finding it, then I worry something else may be seriously broken

@Machtoo it’s worth calling out, not all the jets cockpits have a pilot model… and some do, but don’t support toggling him off
I forget which jets are in which state … but I think the pilot-toggle callback may only apply to F-16 cockpits

@Machtoo I’ve mapped the pilot model to my Warthog throttle via the launcher, pretty easy to switch them off.

Thanks for the clues…was looking for pilot and not simpilot…however ALT C then P would not work at all…it would always see the “P” as pause with the “P” press. My machine may be too fast for the combo to be detected properly. Changed it to “CTRL p” and it works as expected. Thanks

Hey, you callin my PC slow? (j/k)
Do the other [alt+C] prefix commands work for you? eg… [alt+C][J] to recenter your joystick … or [alt+C][F] to toggle the fps info overlay?
One quirk, I think maybe it has to be the left [alt] key. Not sure if both work… it might depend on your keybd layout (I’m assuming standard US-english).

@airtex2019
In my case, Spanish keyboard configuration and LEFT ALT.
works fine! -
I mapped this to a shifted keypress on my stick. SHF CMS-BACK.
