Freely assignable Anlog (pot) inputs?
-
Hi, I am returning to BMS after a few years layoff.
I have built a number of sims over the years…this time i am doing the diy thing again!
I am attempting to "Make " a gaming seat/ VR setup with an old F22 pro stick and throttle quad. I am trying to run all analog and digital switch inputs through a spare PoKeys 56U interface card.
I have managed to get the virtual joystick functioning through Pokeys.
I have no problems assigning switch (digital inputs) to keyboard short cuts (Pokeys is awesome! I have managed to get the Joystick X and Y and throttle to work through Pokeys also.
The problem I have is: how do you assign a pot (Pokeys analog) input to an analog control within BMS. ie Range knob or Ant knob?
When I try to assign the Pokeys analog input within BMS, the program will not “see” the input. It works within Pokeys but is not recognised in BMS.
(Not good for a DIY cockpit builder!)
Is there some way of freely assigning an analog input from Pokeys to an analog control (axis?) within BMS.
Any help will be appreciated.
BMS is looking great. thanks guys for a fine sim program.
Regards,

@Bruceaust2 should work … can you share more info what you’re trying. are you doing the assignment within Alt Launcher or within BMS setup screen?
-
also share your DeviceSorting.txt file
I think DirectX has a limit of 8 analog axes per device … and I think Alt Launcher may have some bugs or limitations, when dealing with multiple “instances” of virtual joystick device drivers like vJoy et al
you may have to bypass the Alt Launcher and configure it within the BMS 2D setup screen

Thanks for the help,
I have tried using both methods…the Alt Launcher and the BMS setup screen.
I am using pot inputs through the Pokeys Card. It seems I cannot select a analog input that is NOT a “Joystick Axis”. For example if I wanted to assign a DIY pot (via Pokeys) to the Pitch Trim … There does not seem to be a method to do this? -
@Bruceaust2 Is there another card (Arduino???) that will interface with BMS, that may be more suitable ?
-
@Bruceaust2 I must point out that the Joystick and throttle have been modded … the pots and switches are wired directly to the Pokeys card. So the Joystick and Throttle are just pots feeding into the Pokeys…BMS does not see a Thrustmaster …but sees a virtual Joystick (from Pokeys)

I use 2 Pokeys for lots of things, toggles, encoders, etc. Most of my items I have assigned as joystick buttons. I do not have any POTs. BUT you can put the pot on certain pins and then assign them in pokeys joystick setup as axis if you want.

I did some more digging!
I found that the Range pot wiring was faulty. Now both the Range and Ant pots work. …happy chappy. The Range and Ant. analogs are now mapped to x and y in the Pokeys Virtual Joystick.
Now all I have is a couple of digital inputs that appear to be linked in some way. Once this little fault is fixed, I should be able to config. as I please. Thanks for your help.

Sorted! for the meantime
