SweetFX for BMS

Anyone got their shaders working on ATI with Linux/Wine?
I’m hacking away at Wine’s GLSL implementation and will share my findings if it starts working.
Edit: Works now, sort of. Except I can’t seem to get rid of ATI driver crashing.
My settings:
/*-----------------------------------------------------------. / Choose effects / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 0 //[0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines. #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 0 //[0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that. #define USE_BLOOM 1 //[0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_HDR 1 //[0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_TECHNICOLOR 0 //[0 or 1] TECHNICOLOR : Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4) #define USE_DPX 0 //[0 or 1] Cineon DPX : Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor. #define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 0 //[0 or 1] Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (avoids clipping) #define USE_TONEMAP 1 //[0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping) #define USE_VIBRANCE 0 //[0 or 1] Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation. #define USE_CURVES 1 //[0 or 1] Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves. #define USE_SEPIA 0 //[0 or 1] Sepia : Sepia tones the image. #define USE_VIGNETTE 0 //[0 or 1] Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. May cause banding artifacts. #define USE_DITHER 1 //[0 or 1] Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by Vignette) #define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0 //[0 or 1] Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode. /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / SMAA Anti-aliasing settings / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define SMAA_THRESHOLD 0.05 // [0.05 to 0.20] Edge detection threshold #define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS 60 // [0 to 98] Determines the radius SMAA will search for aliased edges #define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS_DIAG 14 // [0 to 16] Determines the radius SMAA will search for diagonal aliased edges #define SMAA_CORNER_ROUNDING 60 // [0 to 100] Determines the percent of antialiasing to apply to corners. // -- Advanced SMAA settings -- #define COLOR_EDGE_DETECTION 0 // [0 or 1] 1 Enables color edge detection (slower but slightly more acurate) - 0 uses luma edge detection (faster) #define SMAA_DIRECTX9_LINEAR_BLEND 0 // [0 or 1] Using DX9 HARDWARE? Hi Guys,
Have got SweetFX working no problem. One thing I have noticed (which another post mentions) is that the text on the MFD’s is jagged, almost not anti-aliased when not zoomed in. I am assuming that this is as a result of not using MSAA in the BMS config? I am controlling my AA etc from my AMD CC (override application settings and have always done this pre SweetFX). I only notice this when I disable MSAA in BMS config and enable SweetFX. Obviously if I enable MSAA in BMS config SweetFX does not work. Does anyone know of a way to fix the text jaggies as I’m happy with SweetFX other than this one aspect.
Regards,
Z

Hi guys,
News: a new SweetFX version is out (1.4) :
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=376265Now I have a problem…
I got a new GTX 680 after years with ATI cards.
Running the latest Nvidia drivers (314.22) - I get a massive drop in FPS and minor stutters when running SweetFX , even while not running any post process, just turning it on.
Anyone experienced it like that?? ATI was smooth (5870 card).
Thanks! -

Hey guys,
I installed everything correctly into the right folders but when I launch the game it loads up regular but once loaded up to the main page where you can choose Instant Action, Dogfight, Campaign, etc. I cant see any of that. It simply shows a blank white screen with the UI music playing and I can even click in certain areas of the screen where I remember certain things to be and they will actually go through BUT back to the problem of only having a blank white screen so I cant really play lol
Can anyone help me out with this?

SweetFX affects the whole game visually, that includes menus, loading screens, everything - not just the playable portion of it. It’s good at what it does but it’s a bit ham-fisted when it comes to affecting everything else within the game. Sounds like it’s using Bloom on the white portions of the menu screen and blowing the darker colors out. In this respect it’s useless, hate to say it but you’re best unloading it and waiting (if) until similar shaders are incorporated into future versions of BMS. Even though it doesn’t need any

My video card may be too old to handle it because I am only running Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family “very outdated” I think. I have tried many different settings but still get the white screen that sucks. Where do I place the shader.fx file also if thats the problem?
In the log file it states “redirecting Create Device, initialising shader environment, undable to create depthStencilSurface (hr=-2005530516)”
Any help with that?
Additional info: Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo, 32bit, Resolution 1680x1050, 60Hz
Dont know anything else to state

You’ll get that white screen regardless of your video card. I got the white screen on my GTX690 back when I tried it. I remember somebody showing me the loadup screen for planetside 2 with sweet FX and the loading screen goes CGA in color scheme (purple, cyan with yellow) then it looked like maggots were crawling, eating all the pixels of the image till the entire screen blew out into nothing but white. Stop wasting your time with it

Sounds like the best idea so far

If you like it in game but the menu has gone bad,
You can always disable it with the scroll lock key, and enable it back in 3D… -

You can always disable it with the scroll lock key, and enable it back in 3D…For me it never shows at all even with all the settings set to off for SweetFx. I just get blank white screen then when I press the scroll lock key the game is visible.

The following, is how i’ve got SweetFX working on my system:
d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll & injector.ini is in .\Falcon BMS 4.32\Bin\x86
Everything else is in .\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data
Speaking of effects, I use stock Luma Sharpen, Curves & Dither -these are enough for what I’ve had in mind.

A totally misplaced post, sorry!

Still doesnt work for me. Think I’m just going to have to do without it

Shadowblade. Best retro profile picture ever! Brings back memories of being 8 years old and flying night sorties over Tripoli on my spectrum!!

Yep. Seems the graphics chip won’t work with it. You run BMS with the shaders disabled, right?

Yea I have to run BMS with the shaders disabled. None of the shader effects ever show so I just keep them off.
I have a Windows 7 64-bit laptop that I installed the game on and it ran perfectly with all of the shaders and extra effects but the only down fall is that I couldn’t figure out how to get the game to show fullscreen on my laptop. It only play in the center portion of my screen and left open spaces on the left and right side where I could clearly see my desktop background.
Is there a way I could play fullscreen on my laptop with it been Windows 7 64-bit? If yes, ill transition to play on my laptop instead and enjoy the game even more.
Thanks ahead
