Korea '80s Theater - discussion
-
Don’t want to stray to far from Theater discussion but the 2000D in the FO Balkans theater and the 2000C in the Sinai theater were great.
Thanks for the info guys.

Does anyone know what I did wrong? I installed the theater as described on the first page but I have two problems: 1 - the new cokipit of the f 14 is very beautiful, but when i look back in the cockpit have a hole in the fuselage.
2 - after install the file “particle” my gun shots are black. -
The F-14 pit is strongy WIP and this version likely never will be finished because Nizmo’s work.
I have no idea what can be wrong with particle because it will act for all theater. What files are in the particle package? Maybe one of them is misplaced. Check the gun tracers on other theaters either. -

But you need another files, two dds files. As I see I forget to add them because I linkel in Release notes the thread in my extras only the two different particlesys file were added because I assumed that the two dds file have been copied. The links are dead in both thread of Fenrir but I will upload from my BMS install the two missing dds files.
-
Here the two files copy them into Data\Terrdata\misctex.

Any news on the installer? It´s been almost 2 weeks that Molni reported a RC state for the mod and an installer would be done, but nothing on the first page so far… so anxious for this updated, sorry if I somewhat bothered
cheers!

The ball is on Khronik side currently. When he is done will be done. I can’t do anything to speed up the process.
I wish to release with installer because most of players simply avioid stuff which does not have one click installer. -

I wish to release with installer because most of players simply avioid stuff which does not have one click installer.I’m doing it between projects, but I got most of it completed this weekend.
What’s left to do is a solution to prevent simdata porking on the clients end who forget to swap back and/or uninstall+reinstall.
It will most probably be a small switcher that will toggle either this theater or allow the others, but not both to be selectable simultaneously.

Good news. From my aspect it takes as long as it takes. The one click installer hopefully will encourage more player to try a very different environment.

If it is not possible or too hard you can skip this. Some people are really waiting this theater.

I’ve had the main installer built 2 weeks ago…
Can’t say it’s the best timing considering the other stuff I’m currently trying to get completed, but I can possibly dumb it down a tad and just wrap it up…
ie. make it simply install the payload without any switching functionality. A warning would be provided.

DaveYou basically hide all the other theaters in the TDF when Molni’s version is active, and overwrite the current theater in the registry to point to the corresponding location. Molni’s simdata would be injected and used here. Backup would also have to be made by the script beforehand.
When you want to get back to stock, it needs to flip the TDF list back to everything except Molni’s version and swap back any overwritten BMS files such as simdata, and revert to BMS korea as curtheater in registry.
The main issue I have with this method is that someone will eventually upgrade or install something else forgetting to switch back beforehand, or may switch back to stock version after updating causing an older backup to be restored, and porking the install.
Lots of babysitting script would be needed (ie. building a cheksum table of the files overwritten, and verifying on every switch.) to ensure this doesn’t happen, and it’s really extending the time needed to write it out.
Only option for me right now to get this out for Molni would be to make it simply overwrite and warn before doing so.
The user can decide for themselves if they want to play with their main install or find some other way to manage it.

This can’t be done with an installer only. Needs a proper launcher to do the check and still it can fubar things up.
So a simple installer saying what to do in case u want to change something. Best way would be falcon directory renaming and full install of BMS and Molny’s theater only. Like Falcon BMS 4.32 MOLNY. And play with registry changes. Like with a batch file or exe to switch from stock to Molny’s and vice versa. -
I use a F4Patch based theater switcher for this, as this way you can have custom configurations for each theater. In the case of Molni’s theater I had to write a batch file as well (invoked by the .f4p) that backups SIMDATA files when selecting Korea 80s and restores them back when switching to another.
If you have the patience to code that it is a neat alternative to the multiple installs.
