New 'pooter on the way - can I copy the game location to the new hard drive?
-
Hi all, got me a new system on the way (woo hoo!) and am preparing a list of things I will need to get on it and of course, BMS is a high priority.
Since I am going to be transfering a lot from the current hard drive to the new one anyway, does anyone know if I will be able to copy my installation of BMS as well? I know some games, especially older ones are ok with that but sometimes there are registry settings and what not. Just curious - if not I have no problem installing fresh and copying over config files.

Registry is indeed edited… my guess is it wont be ok.

Ah, bummer. Oh well I have my Falcon 4 CD handy so I should still be good to go!

Yes it will. U must extract and the registry keys.

Can you do a full new install then replace the files with your old install? - used to do it with AF but no cant say it will work without testing it.

Yes, that can be done.

Full new install then copy key files back is the way to go.
Have a look at this post from Dunc for guidance on what to copy: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?15328-BMS-Updater-Note!-copying-of-config-files&p=217229&viewfull=1#post217229

I got it up and running, just installed BMS again and copied over my config files. Running great so far! Now if I can just figure out how to convert Hard Decks X52 profile to the CH Fighterstick and Throttle I will be set.
