      Hi guys,

Just reinstalled falcon 4 BMS and TM16000M FCS after not playing this sim for more than 10 years.

But not able to have any rudder input using the rudder pedal. Had try assigning different axis to the rudder using TARGET but still not able to resolve.

Can anyone advise where I go wrong?

You can assign a specific axis to control the rudder in the BMS setup, by going to Setup -> Controllers -> Advanced -> Flight Controls.

From there, click the drop down menu and select the axis you want to use to control the rudder.

Exclude the rudder pedal from TARGET and bind it as if TARGET weren’t runnin’ a-tall.

Hi guys, managed to get the rudder to work now.

            Next problem I have now is this;

Using keyboard, pressing shift+b together will open up the air brake progressively. Once release of the keys, the air brake will be lock in position. When I bind this key combination to one of the button, it doesn’t the same way as it does in the keyboard. It will go to fully open or fully closed position. It can’t like, for example, stay half open position. Had tried using “pressed”, “hold” combination but no joy 😞

“pressed”? “hold”? where does this come from?

              are these TARGET insensibilities?

If so, I suspect I know where the problem arises…

                Hi Blu3Wolf,

See the screen capture from the manual about the “press”, “hold” thingy….apologies if I am not clear about what I am asking.

Basically, what I want is to map a button such that when I press it, the air brake with open. When I released the button, the air brake with maintain it’s position. I remember back when I had a TM F22 stick with TQS, the TQS has a momentary switch which I can program to do that.

Don’t bother with that for airbrakes. Map the relevant callback to your DX switch and you should be good. You’ll want the AFBrakesIn and AFBrakesOut callbacks.

You don’t want hold as that will keep the button held until told to release. “Press” is the kind of command that will produce “down” output when button is pressed and “up” output when button is released, normal operation.

If you bind a normal joystick button (or keyboard key) to AFBrakesIn and AFBrakesOut then the brakes will stop in position when that command is stopped. There are minor notes like the F-16 won’t keep the brakes open a very small angles and it won’t stay open more than 80% with gear down but in the majority of the operating range it will stop when no command is given.

But perhaps you are binding to the callback AFBrakesToggle in which case it’s not going to stop it’s going to toggle.

You very very rarely want to use the hold/release TARGET abilities since they are only the down or up half of the normal press cycle.

                      Hi guys,

Appreciated the advices given. I think for now will keep it simple by having it either fully open or close.

map it via directx, keeps it simple and it just WORKS.
