Um… I HAVE a valid copy of Falcon 4.0 from steam...
-
Tried reinstalling BMS and I’m getting the “need a valid copy of Falcon 4.0” message. What am I doing wrong here? How do I point the BMS set up program to my steam location?

Tried making those folders in my drive and bringing the falcon4.exe file over. Doesn’t work.

the copy alone is not enough.
posting the solution is against the forum rules.
ask for a refund from steam and buy it from gog.
Maybe someone that got it from steam and managed to do it can help if there is a legitimate way.
Also in case steam is a NOGO probably should be mentioned officially and probably remove all posts that say to buy it from steam to unconfuse ppl.

Christ… I’m not trying to screw anyone legally. This is nuts.

sure you don’t.
But telling you how goes against this:4. EULA You agree to make every effort to avoid jeopardizing the ability of the BMS team to deliver future updates to Falcon BMS. Remember that you agree to all the terms in the EULA when you install or use Falcon BMS. To those ends you specifically agree that you will not post information about or reverse engineer any aspect of the implementation of checks to ensure that a copy of the original Falcon 4.0 game is present on a target machine that are made by the Falcon BMS installer or executable. Falcon BMS is distributed with the permission of the Falcon 4.0 copyright owner and the community can continue to enjoy that endorsement only as long as certain conditions are met – these conditions include the provision that a viable install of Falcon 4.0 is present on any system where Falcon BMS is installed and/or run. Any deliberate attempt or even inadvertent slip that can undermine that requirement will be dealt with as a matter of zero tolerance policy and will result in post deletion, and a permanent ban
even though it would be a how to install properly since you have a legitimate license.
Telling how will create a wave of how to install with pirated copies of falcon4.

Sigh…… on my way to GOG…

Put it in right directory might be the issue. I’m not sure where steam puts it, I guess in steam folder aps.
It needs to be in c:micropose/falcon4/falcon4.exe
That is where bms checks for it, but does not use it in any way. Copy all of it though full instalation is a must now, it used to only need exe.
That won’t work as it needs the registry key!
And it doesn’t only check that the folder is present.

Can’t BMS follow onto a Steam copy of F4.0? Aren’t there lots of people with a Steam copy of F4.0 and then BMS?
-
It works fine for me with Steam Falcon 4.0, as I wrote earlier in the thread, so Steam works. Same for my friend.

U altered something or u followed a specific procedure or made a selection at some point of the installation?

I downloaded Falcon 4.0 in Steam (on default Steam C drive location).
I did not start the Steam Falcon 4.0, so Steam did not get a chance to install prerequisites and all that stuff it does when first time starting a game.
I then installed BMS, worked perfect. -
Someone should make this a new thread and make it sticky and put it on announcements and popup for the new members as they register for their 10 first logins and so on and so forth…

Wow. In a rare moment of clarity, I searched for this before I actually downloaded and installed the copy of F4 I just purchased on Steam. Thank the heavens! In real life, I tend to learn things the hard way/after the fact.
