[BUG] Vehicle kills are not recognized in Multiplayer (data attached)
-
Hi all,
our squadron is facing a strange phenomenon for a while now.
It appears that vehicles that have obviously been killed in a mission are only being shown as damaged in the Debriefing screen. This problem has been reported before in another thread. This problem hasn’t been further pursued by the devs.
We’ve seen this problem in several missions. Usually we connect to dedicated server hardware when flying. There’s always a server flight that enters 3D and waits on the ramp in Japan or something. The server is located in a datacenter with a backbone connection so we have plenty of bandwidth. On an average flight we have 15 to 20 pilots.
I was even able to reproduce it in a local test setup. In my setup I used my laptop as the Server (with a server flight in 3D) and my Cockpit PC as the Client. The laptop had the same installation and configuration files as the dedicated server does to eliminate any doubts. Both machines were connected via cables to the same switch. No lack of bandwidth here either.
I tried the same mission both offline and online over and over again with different configuration settings.
The mission itself contained no surprises or quirks: Take off from Kunsan, head to the target, find some vehicles, drop some bombs, fly home.
Here are the results:When I flew the mission offline:
- Ramp Start and Taxi went just fine
- All AI planes could taxi and depart as expected
- When I arrived at the Target Steerpoint the enemy vehicles were still moving
- I deployed both, CBU-105 and GBU-12 - I saw some good hits
- I had several kills on the 2D screen (as many as expected)
When I flew the mission online:
- Only the first two AI planes were able to take off, all others were lined up on the taxiway.
- My AI Flight members didn’t even taxi out.
- When I arrived at the Target Steerpoint the enemy vehicles were standing, some on flat terrains, others on mountains - but still in a nice line.
- I deployed both, CBU-105 and GBU-12 - I saw some good hits.
- I had zero kills on the 2D screen.
- According to the Status window of the enemy units, they were down to 80 percent of their original strength - so I must have scored some kills.
As I said, we’ve seen this problem in several missions. Yesterday again - I really don’t know what’s the cause of this - well, as mentioned above - the vehicles were all standing still when it happened - so this might be a hint or an indicator … or nothing
.
I really hope that the devs might have a look at this problem… I’ll try to provide anything you need to resolve this issue or at least give us a hint what might have caused the problem. Maybe there’s something wrong with the mission or our configuration files.
I’ve prepared two packs that might help you to track down the issue. Both contain the data from missions flown on our dedicated server. The first mission with me as the only Client, the second one with several squadron mates. I can provide ACMI files and a video for the second one as well if you want me to.

Hi all - i’ve found the solution by myself…
There’s another thread that at least referred to a detail, that I also experienced everytime I tested this mission: the AI planes would not take off.
See here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?34343-AI-flight-not-taking-offWell, the other thread said, that this was due to setting the value for the “Grass Density” graphics setting to zero (the slider all the way to the left).
Apart from what the other thread states, this also seems to affect the movement of ground units - or at least leads to them not being killed - even if struck by a GBU-12.
Dear devs - please take care of it, if not already done so - that would be
It took me lots of hours of test flights and forums mining to find it out. But on the other hand - I learned a lot about BMS that way.Other than that - thanks for this great sim - and the countless hours of great fun that make up for it!!

I have always said a little bit of grass is a good thing,…
