Low FPS
-
Hi everyone,
first of all, dear devs, thanks a lot for this new version. I have a lot of fun with SEAD/DEAD missions !
Meanwhile, I noticed that at the airport at the beginning of missions with a lot of AC, my fps is low : SIM is 30 max while REN is 45-50.
I tried to modify several graphic parameters (AA, triple buffering, v-sync) without success.
Does that mean that my CPU is the bottleneck ?My config :
MB ASUS X470-Pro, CUP AMD Ryzen 7 2700X GPU 1080 TiCheers
PS: no pb while flying, always good FPS, but still a difference of ~20 between SIM and REN.

Your answer is here:
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?40982-FPS-SIM-REN
those numbers tell you clearly which is your bottleneck. And YES your CPU is the bottleneck. Overclock it to stay steady to 4.3 or if you can go above that or get a faster.
If you are looking at GPU problems, please first check your Renderer FPS, if it’s high and you are getting low Sim and total FPS, then your CPU is the bottleneck.
Just to make sure everyone is aligned regarding the new FPS counter:
1st line - Total FPS
2nd line - Simulation FPS - In large you may think of it as your CPU FPS
3rd line - Renderer FPS - GPU FPSBecause with the new engine (which isn’t only DX11 but a TOTAL new engine that was written from the ground up using state of the art methods), the Renderer is (almost, there is always some) totally independent from the simulation, and so it runs at its own pace.

I had to unchecked Shadows in the configuration. If I remember in 4.34 I only choose the cockpit shadows. Now in 4.35 if you checked shadows you got internal and external I think.

Thanks Discodan, I gained +10fps and it’s far better.
And thank you Arty for your clear explanation. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to have CPU stability @4.2 GHz (need more time for tuning…).
