UHF/VHF problems
-
Hi Folks
Since yesterday I have the darnest problem with UHF/VHF comms. In flight I do not hear any KI communication directed at me. Tower Emergency for instance results in no answer whatsoever. I checked the Setup/Sounds and all the Sound Play correctly, except for UHF and VHF. Sliding the corresponding sliders I get some broken communication and when I retry: nothing.
It all started when I played with the VAC (Voice activated commands) software. The Problem now occurs even if VAC is not started at all. In the taskmanager of Windows I dont’ see anything resembling VAC. Any ideas?
Has anyone had this puzzling problem too? Any help is appreciated!
Regards

Usual procedure here, who are you talking to and on what frequency? If you’re near Kusan tower for example and check in for wind or altimeter or anything else punch in 292.3 MHz for the UHF radio, confirm it says that on the DED. That’s going to eliminate two potential issues right way. First by dialing in the frequency directly it makes sure it’s not an error with preset channels. Second confirming the frequency in the DED makes sure you are using the up front controls which would otherwise say “BUP” for backup.
AI wingmen, tankers, and AWACS should work on any frequency. Towers only work on their listed UHF or VHF frequency. http://www.combatsimchecklist.net/MAPKOREA/
If the above doesn’t solve it or additionally turn on the oxygen system as a test sound and turn the intercom knob until the breathing sound is very noticeable. Turn the COM1 and COM2 knobs fully clockwise and tap the UHF and VHF microphone hat directions. You should see the DED highlight each radio and hear an audible pop as you release each transmit key. If the pop is loud, the knobs are up, and breathing can be heard the volume gear should be working well.

Frederf, you’re the man. It was the intercom I hadn’t turned on. Now everything is fine.
Thanks and regards
