Hi, I’ve an Winwing Orion stick and throttle. Even though I’ve done all the steps in the tech manual to stop axes being reassigned at start up (then made devicesorting.txt,joystick.cal. etc read only), when i start bms my ‘joystick’ (ie elevator/aileron control) does not respond. When I map the stick again it then forgets everything it had mapped for throttle, and I need to remap the whole thing again. DX buttons are still recognised.

I am using 128 button config (in user config file)
      Virtual rudder in use

I don’t know if the following is relevant:

      • For some reason, bms always ‘highlights’ my throttle in controllers section, even though it is the second device on my list. The throttle mappings are persistent between bms starts, but my stick settings always get ‘lost’ (ie no joystick input recognised - DX buttons work ok though).

      • When I look at the axismapping.dat, the winwing devices are listed, but there doesn’t seem to be anything mapped against them?

      • When I go into controllers, it defaults to a key file name I deleted a while ago? Not sure what is happening there.

      • Do I need to ‘force’ axes in axismapping.dat by manual edit then make read-only?

      • How can I stop it defaulting to old key file (I have deleted that file too in config to try to fix it)?

Grateful for any advice. It is starting to make me lose my mind!

Sorry for the delay replying. I’ve been away for a few days.

I managed to get it working, but by amending the axismapping.dat file using Notepad, to try to assign axes to the Orion throttle and stick.

It didn’t work straight away, when I went into “Controls” I still needed to reassign them in Advanced, but this time it retained that information rather than deleting it when I changed from Stick to Throttle in “controls”.

If it doess it again, I will try the procedure above - but I don’t want to risk changing anything at the moment while it is working ok!

When I look at the axismapping.dat

That is a binary file, no? I’m going to assume you meant DeviceSorting.txt

Input problems can be confusing and frustrating. Let’s take it from the top.

          1. Start BMS… Setup / Controllers… ignore the axes, select an existing stock key file (eg. BMS-Basic.key) and click APPLY then OK. Then EXIT bms to ensure your pop file is saved, and now pointing to a valid key file.

          2. Delete the axismapping.dat and joystick.cal files. They’ll be recreated.

          3. Start BMS, go to Setup / Controllers, select your primary pitch/roll stick and the CLICK APPLY and OK.

          4. Then go into Advanced to select throttle axis…

          5. Remember to click APPLY and OK before leaving the Setup page.

          HTH…
