PS4 controller setup
-
Hi , I’m new to BMS I just got it today. I currently don’t have any flight stick and throttle so I’m using my PS controller but I don’t know to set it up .

I made this keyfile just for testing the new gamepad support … but all I have is a PC/XBox style controller. I don’t know if the button-numbering is the same for PS4.
Specifically, there are 2 “menu” buttons in the middle of an XBox controller, and I’m using those for the DX-shift layer – which I then use for the bumpers to control the throttle.
Anyway, it may help get you started… (make a copy of BMS-Full.key, and paste these lines into the bottom)
https://pastebin.com/0UB81sWEThe 2 big problems with gamepad flying are…
1- how to look around?
options are (a) head-tracking… (b) use OpenTrack to fake head-tracking (eg. use left-thumbstick to look around… (c) mouse-look
2- how to adjust throttle?
all the analog axes on a gamepad physically snap-back to center, so not really suitable for throttle mgmt. I hear there are some vJoy/Gremlin scripts that will synthesize a “virtual throttle” using the trigger axes on a game controller… but I haven’t tried anything like that, yet

I already copied the Full.key didnt really help much. The problem I’m facing is with head tracking, throttle and rudders. -
I’d like to recommend my gamepad mapping software ControllerBuddy, which was specifically designed for use with flight simulators, along with my Falcon BMS profile.
ControllerBuddy will enable you to experience BMS, and practically every other sim, without ever taking your hands of your gamepad - no additional peripherals required!
For installing, I would recommend using the All-in-one Auto Install Script, which will automatically set-up everything for you, and even configure BMS for use with the profile.
Carefully read and follow the steps in theREADME.md
.Additionally, you should take a look at the “Getting Started” video, read the FAQ, and study the Falcon BMS profile visualization, in order to know how to use the software and to understand the philosophy behind my profiles.
For questions and support, there’s also the ControllerBuddy Discord.
