Saitek X65F & BMS Alternative Launcher

@airtex2019
X65F does have dual throttle.
AL axis assign shows them working, but the system game controller doesn’t show anything working.
Probably because of the generic driver.The system game controller shows USB input device along with the X65F
I changed the Power Management to not let it power off when not used.
(The X65F doesn’t have a power management tab)
That may have worked. -
@PRNDL share a screen shot of the Setup/Controllers screen
your DeviceSorting.txt only listed 1 device, the X65F
maybe HidHide is messing something up on your system
-
@airtex2019
I only have the X65F (and the keyboard) and a USB mouse, which doesn’t show up in AL Key Mapping.
Also, Hid Hide isn’t on my system (either not installed or uninstalled).On a very positive note, it now works fine.
I flew around for a while in Fur ball without seeing anything to shoot at, but that might be normal.
Changing the power management setting seems to have worked.Also, setting the dead zone to maximum in AL really helps.
Otherwise any hat or button press changes course.
F3 seems to be for general flying and F2 or F1 for fine control.I did not get Lock On running with the X65F. The joystick jumps.
It has a nice set of tutorials and missions. I might try the Thrustmaster. -
There does seem to be a conflict with the USB Mad Cat mouse.
It looks like…Success!
-
@PRNDL is it one of those newfangled 1000hz gaming mice?
I suspect those have been causing problems for people… especially with older PCs.
tbh I don’t know the implications for a device driver signalling a kernel interrupt every 1ms… but it seems not-desirable. especially for HID devices – the OS has just a single thread on which it’ll process and dispatch input events to user-mode applications (so your mouse clicks and key presses always arrive in-order)
I suspect there’s an input-queue of ~100 events and if that gets flooded, it probably drops new input events. (but idk)

@airtex2019
It’s an older Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. Rat 3 Gaming Optical Mouse 3500 dpiTurns out that setting the throttle zoom wheel correctly was the issue.
There’s like four zooms, but only one that’s right.
Funny how things get messed up so easily! -
@PRNDL I’m not sure I understand how zoom axis affects your throttle, but glad to hear it’s working well now.

More success today.
Installed the saitek drivers (7053) and now the settings work.
Settings, Devices and printers, Right-click on X65F
Game controller settings, PropertiesThere’s an update to Falcon 4 (from 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.6)
This fixes the setup options, plus a bunch more
This is if you want to use the old Falcon 4 game for training, etc.
Falcon BMS uses Falcon 4, but it’s fine.LOMAC is problematic.
The X65F make the stick jump. So does the Thrustmaster HOTAS X.
There are profiles for the X45 and X52, but not the newer ones. -
Another update.
Falcon 4 does much better with the most recent update (possibly 1.08)
Otherwise bad things happen (like a black screen).Falcon 4’s key editor is somewhat challenging.
Copying the BMS key file into the config folder works wonders!
There’s a few cool codes that can be pasted in.
(like select the closest and next enemy).Why Falcon 4?
It’s easy and fun if you want something a bit more point and shoot.
It’s also runs better on older computers.LOMAC might be useful for the tutorials because they explain things.

@PRNDL said in Saitek X65F & BMS Alternative Launcher:
Falcon BMS uses Falcon 4, but it’s fine.
BMS doesn’t use Falcon4 to be precise, it just required to have Falcon4 installed other than that BMS is completely independent from the base game
I know a lot of threads and post suggest to use the generic hid driver, but to be honest my Saitek X65F runs since years on the Saitek_X65F_Flight_Controller_7_0_53_6_x64_Drivers without any issues
