Need some help with the relationship between “hardpoint#Grp”, “Rack#” & “Rackgroup #”
Solved most issues but I don’t have complete understand here as the are still things that don’t seem to conform. I get to a point where I think I have it & then I lose it.
If any one who knows this well has some time. Thanks

What do you want to do exactly? Because in BMS4 currently two way of HP usage available. Some AC has the old type some AC has the new type.

Its not as much “what I want do do” its more like “What is left to fix” This is primarily for the SU-27/30 family.
AA-10A/B incorrectly use the same Rackgroup as do the AA-10C/D
So AA-10A/C should be set to 51 While AA-10B/D is assigned to use 50. Th B & D being IR and using a extended Pylon (CT2824) for ignition off the rail. (so I imagine )Wing tip by default uses “hardpoint#Grp” 53 which adds a pylon to the loaded item weather it be AA-8/11 or Sorbtsiya.
So I use a "hardpoint# Grp changed to 1 with a change to the weapons “Hardgroup” setting. There are problems with other “hardpoint#Grp” & “Rackgroup”
So I have some idea but I’m still not clear how a loaded weapon knows which “Rack#” to use where there are more then 1 Rack in the Rackgroup. ?

First racks are for AAMs as I can remember than it also counts the qty. of bombs. So from left to right are the racks with smaller qty. of bombs and 6 bomb MERs should be on the right end of the line. You can check my rack files in Korea '80s MOD where I defined new bomb racks. For AAMs I did not care because I simply did not know such minor differencies for AAMs. I also played with rack definition inside the rack LOD to get better release sequence and positions on racks.

Thanks but your memory is a bit out & doesn’t answer my primary question.
I don’t think having a pylon (& its additional drag) on a wingtip comes under the heading of “minor”, or for that matter the right pylon and/or rack for a pacific weapon.
Its not that hard to get it right.
So the question still remains, when there are multiple AA racks in the weapons specified “rackgroup” how is the right one used.

At the end or rack.dat file. Rackgroup number is linked to a LOD by CT ID. I do not know what rack is used on wingtips from my mind but in DB you can set 0 drag. IMHO this is not the most serious issue in the world…

I know all this molni, If you don’t know how the final determination is made just say “i don’t know”
Setting a pylon drag to 0 is not a smart idea, what about other AC/weapons that use that pylon. I have already fixed the wingtip problem by changing its “hardpoint#Grp”
“IMHO this is not the most serious issue in the world…” So don’t reply, I don’t want your opinion, its not helpful.
Hopefully someone has some useful insight.
Thanks

All pylons/racks have drag value even it is use as an invisible rack for ex F-15E’s CFT HPs. So in case you wish on wingtip only drag of the missile you need a rack with 0 drag…
Maybe I do not know the exact process but I was able to achieve what I wanted and happened exactly what I exepcted. So in case you ask help maybe listen to wish to help… -
Thanks molni but your incorrect. !
There is no need to have a pylon on the tip at all. As I stated about 3 post previous this is achieved by setting “hardpoint2Grp 1” in the SU27/30.dat file. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8453-Su-flight-model-please&p=313329&viewfull=1#post313329 No pylon !
I am listening but you are not. I know English is not your native & maybe I don"t explain simply enough.
Ill try one more time:
Su27.dat (2nd/8th hardpoint) set as “hardpoint3Grp 54” will accept AA-8, AA-11 & AA-12 (weapons set in the DB under “Hardpoints”)
rack.dat “Rackgroup 54” includes “Rack36” (AA-8 ), “Rack53” (AA-11), “Rack51” (AA-10B/D), “Rack52” (AA-10A/C AA-12), “Rack54” (AS-14) also 56, 45 & 37 ( ejector racks with pylons for AG)
In the rack.dat the rack is associated with the CTid but nowhere with the weapon it will carry.
So if this is not specified elsewhere the only other thing I can think of is the use of a matrix of weapons “rackgroup” & the wings “hardpoint#Grp #”
If there’s no one willing to confirm it one way or the other Ill have to spend some time drawing it up.
PS: Molni, thanks for your interest but your not helping except forcing me to repeat myself in greater detail. Might be of some use to others reading here.

Hey Shad, Wish I could answer/solve your dilemma… maybe you’re in the wrong forum to be asking such intricate questions.
Obviously no one is willing to take on your request.
I suggest you post on a forum that may have an answer, for this forum obviously is not the place.
