As the title says, I cannot get my HMCS to activate. It works in the training mission just fine, but when I get into TE or Campaign, I can’t turn on the switch. Any ideas that could help?

      Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem but sorted it in the end as the rotary i assigned HMCS brightness to just wasnt working for some reason. What do you have it binded to? are you using keyboard commands?

Well. This is what i have settled for regarding my HMCS. At the start of mission whilst on the ground (if doing an instant action or a TE where you start in the air, you can press shift P to freeze the game whilst being able to press functions) just look at your HMCS knob in the cockpit, switch it fully on (or just to how bright you want it) and it will activate. To switch it back off you dont have to right click the knob in the pit, just press DMS down and hold it, and there you go, its gone. Hold DMS down again to bring it back on 🙂

Is you use HMCS Brightness axis other than Keyboard you need to use the dedicated callbacks to turn the system on and off. If not then Block 40 and up, click the knob and it should work.

Thanks Guys. I have it tied to the rotary on my x55, so i’ll unbind it later and give it a try when I get home.

Is it rotary 3 or 4 you have it binded to? thats what i had and it wouldnt work. At first i binded it instead to the silver rotary thats at the top left of your throttle and that worked, so you could use that. But in the end i binded that silver rotary to ICP next and previous mainly for changing steerpoints. All i do now is left click the knob in the pit to full brightness then press and hold DMS down so it goes, then press and hold it again to bring it back on…i personally find thats the best way, saves other rotaries/buttons you have for other functions.

Oh and that silver rotary top left of your throttle isnt an axis or rotation thats recognized in the advanced setup. Twisting that rotary forward is recognized as a button bush in normal setup and twisting it back, but you can twist it multiple times to adjust the brightness however you want it, if you do choose to bind it to HMCS that is.

Are you using all 3 Modes or just Mode 1?

Just 1, and i actually had the mode 1 button mapped to ICP nav and have since had to keep the mode selector switch on mode 2 as mode 1 kept coming up in the setup page as being pressed like button 15, and i’ve since mapped ICP nav to SW1.
