TrackIR bouncing with roll axis
-
I would appreciate some help with an ongoing problem I have with TrackIR within BMS and only within BMS (4.33 as well as 4.32).
When I look all the way left (or right) and then start moving my head up vertically from the sit and forward (just past the V shape on the canopy right above the pilot’s helmet) the outside picture snap rotates by about 20 degrees and then it snaps back.
In a dogfight when I track someone it’s enough to lose eye contact with the opponent.I checked the TrackIR software and there’s no problem with either clip/ camera contact, reflections from bright items or any axes.
Only way I found to eliminate the problem is by disabling the Roll axis.
Tweaks made to the Roll axis didn’t cure the issue.
The issue is prevalent with any profile used, including DJ’s.
Again, it only happens in BMS and nowhere else.Attached is my own profile which I enjoy every second with…other than DF and tracking someone passing me in the rear aspect:

So, it’s not happening in the track-ir software? That would be strange because this is a representation of what’s happening in game (with the profile loaded of course).
The problem it self i regognize, i sometimes have the same problem and I spent a lot time just adjusting the track IR camera.
I don’t know if you are using the Track-clip Pro or some kind of self made device, but i got a lot better results using it instead of the 3 reflector thingy.
Check in the software if one of the reflector reflection points is getting a lot smaller or disappears al the way. That would cause the bouncing effect.
Track IR can be very sensitive and needs a lot of time adjusting and tweeking before it functions like you want it to…… -
Terminator,
Thanks for trying to help !
I use the pro clip and I checked every aspect of the TrackIR software when that happens.
Three greens at all times, 3D no jump, different axis no jump.
This doesn’t happen in any other sim but only in BMS.
I could even replicate it with others.
Do you understand that exact point at which it happens?
At the third half of the too canopy from the back on top of the pilot head and when the movement is forward from all the way left or right.
Can you replicate it? -

I think i got that figured out
I’ll try to replicate it today. The thing is though, unless there’s a “dead” point (wich i can’t imagine) in the POV in BMS, the in-sim head position is not important at all. The bouncing effect is caused by the Track-IR loosing track. So what’s your real head position when it happens? The direction your face is pointing should not exceed the outside of your monitor screen horizontally, vertically, there’s a little bit more room for movement.
With the profile running, the view that contains the 3 heads should exactly show what’s happening in sim. It’s simple, what you see is what you get.But again, i’ll try to replicate somewhere today

Thanks Terminator !
Again…there’s no issue with the TrackIR losing track on my side.
If you want to enhance the effect just raise the whole graph of the roll axis to the middle. -
Polaris,
Just did a little check, no problems on my side (btw, I use Yassy’s profile), i did notice though i have the roll option not ticked in the profile setup.
When i tick the roll option, the Track IR gets a lot more erratic.
The problems are already visible in the Track-IR software/profile setup. Problems occur when looking/rolling to the right, left no problems.
I noticed that when it occurs, in the setup 1 of the greens is less bright or seems a bit streched.
Did some testing with roll disabled and enabled, i don’t really notice any benifit with roll enabled (on the working left side :D), right side was a lot more bouncy with roll enabled.
At my side, it’s for sure not a BMS problem, problems are caused by the track-ir.
So just disable the roll, you won’t notice it during flight and your problems are solved.:p
